Post by Going Underground »

Challenge 1)

Visit all the stations on the network as shown below with Roads, Streets, Lanes etc in the actual station name..
You can nominate your own starting station and visit in any order but you MUST finish at Mornington CRESCENT... :) (A twist/variation of another game :P )

Meeting time/place; 1200hrs outside Oxford Circus tube, Argyll Street by the Angus Steak House if you are running late just text me and head to your starting station.

After this challenge meet for "refreshments" at The Angel in the Fields, Thayer Street (5-10mins walk from Bond Street)...

Rayners LANE, Hanger LANE, Turnpike LANE, Chancery LANE = 4

Preston ROAD, Edgware ROAD x 2, Gloucester ROAD, Latimer ROAD, Goldhawk ROAD, Tottenham Court ROAD, Bow ROAD, Blackhorse ROAD, Holloway ROAD, Caledonian ROAD, Finchley ROAD= 12

High STREET Kensington, Goodge STREET, Warren STREET, Old STREET, Liverpool STREET, Cannon STREET, Baker STREET, Great Portland STREET, Bond STREET = 9

Warwick AVENUE, = 1

Mornington CRESCENT = 1

Please let me know if I have missed any Roads, Streets, Lanes, Avenues etc...

Challenge 2)

An evening Z1 starting from Goodge STREET meeting at the ticket barriers at 18:30hrs (this time can be put back slightly to suit if necessary)..... :)

Meet up afterwards at the tradional Earls Court McD's....

All our welcome to attend both or either challenges....... :D

There are all sorts of Squares, Broadways and even the odd Grove that would count if this is stations named after roads. Which leads me to believe I'm barking up the wrong tree...
No not really, we are just doing the more "common" ones, otherwise it is difficult to know where to draw the line....... :?:

You could also argue that "Gardens" could be put into the equation...... :?

If you can join us next week I will include it just for you.......

Is that the only "Gardens" on the network excluding DLR?

At last... after 6 days the forum silence is broken!

I would love to join you but unfortunately I can't get any time off work next week. I might just have time to do the "Avenues & Alleyways" Challenge, which only involves visiting Warwick Avenue, however the added twist of this challenge is that you must do it with Tony Christie in tow. :)

I might also struggle to make the Zone 1 in the evening, will try and confirm next week.
One day I shall return!

In the immortal words of Depeche Mode "Enjoy the silence" but it has been very dull lately :(

Anyway my piratey friend keep me posted about the evening Z1, we could always put the start time back to 1900hrs if necessary... :)

Seriously?

<goes back to drawing board> (I may now be able to make it...)
I only run it quickly through my head and not TfL journey planner, I reckon maybe 4 hours ish :? Could be a bit longer I suppose, anyway 1200hrs should give us plenty of time for a meet up & beer prior to the eve Z1.... :D

Be great if you could make it, nice warm up for the Unplanned 15

Keep me posted...... :)

To be honest that could be about right, oh well if we say 1200hrs latest and earlier the better and like I say if anyone that is coming is running late then just text me and head straight for your starting station... :)

OK just a quick bump on this one.......

If we can try and meet at Oxford Circus 1145-1200hrs latest..

That will allow us time to head off to our starting station and then meet for a beer afterwards at The Angel in the Fields... (link below)..prior to heading to Goodge St for the evening Z1...... :D

Afraid I cannot join you for the Roads and Street challenge but I can attend the Z1 in the evening.

Better get some Tube maps and marker pens out.....

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

scrxisi wrote:I've decided to come along and try out my five hour route, provided I can tidy the whole flat (it's only 3 rooms, doddle), do the biggest pile of washing up known to man, declare my car as SORN, do one load of clothes washing, feed the hamster, feed me and have a shower before 1000. This may seem easy but I'm addicted to Tetris all over again and am furiously trying to beat all my friends at it on facebook. It is the ultimate distraction.

I'll see how I feel about the Z1 later :)

Love it

OK Matt, pull your finger out then

Hopefully see you at Oxford Circus or later in the day :D

I will let GU do a write up when he recovers from the zone 1 but on a day of delays a good competitive challenge took place. Sadly I wasn't one of the competitive ones, doing a challenge with two broken toes isn't to be recommended.
