Disused Station Challenge

Post by Garion »

I had an idea for a new challenge. You have to visit the location of a disused station either by on foot (Aldwych) or pass through one (British Museum). All stations must be done that were used by london underground and visitied either by walking, public transport or the London Underground. Some stations cant be done because private transport will have to be used (Epping - Ongar and beyond Amersham).

Happy hunting! :D

I didnt know that. Of all the things I know about the disused stations, I dont know much about the Amersham corner

OK, well you can still do upto Aylesbury and any other line served by the Met. How about that? :)

and doing the Epping Ongar railway would make it more of a challenge than just getting in a car.

There is a lot. I havnt counted them all but I know of at least 30 stations that have to be covered. Anyway, thats the whole point of the challenge. I didnt say it would be easy... :)

There is a list in the back of a book that a friend of mine has.
I can assure you it is many more than 30.

Perhaps we should start a list either in this thread or another of all the ones we can think of.

Also, everywhere can be done, whether or not they are served by public transport, as you can still go by foot.

Have fun walking from Brill then. Does the shuttle train still run once a year from Aylesbury to Quaiton Road to make things a little easier?

Just be careful when you are doing this challenge, according to http://www.underground-history.co.uk some bloke was found dead at the bottom of Brompton Road lift shaft, and nobody had a clue how he got there or what he was doing there!

When I said all stations must be done, I didnt mean breaking into the MoD or other unauthorised areas. Passing through on a Piccadilly Line train is acceptable.

And if you want to start a list, I'll start with the Central Line

British Museum, Blake Hall......

i can't personally think of any more central line ones so you may as well start on the bakerloo or something.

Well on the Bakerloo we have Headstone Lane, Hatch End, Carpenders Park, Bushey, Watford High Street and Watford Junction - although rumours are the Bakerloo will go back there soon. Don't think there are any others.
