Latimer Road R15 - 24APR - Start Time?

Post by Soup Dragon »

The start time will be 12:30 at Latimer Road.
Afterwards the meeting point will be the usual Horse & Groom in Great Portland Street.

Or maybe you could not vote at all? What sort of crazy voting system is this?

Why are you bothered Neil seeing as you (probably) won't be attending?

A noon start might be a bit early for some (eg Joe), but on the other hand, five o'clock seems a tad late to finish, so I've voted for the middle two.

Because I am the sort of pedantic twat who finds amusement in such trivialities, as I'm sure you're aware by now.

I'm surprised he actually questioned my motives.

Well, I've already got tickets to get in to Marylebone at 11.15, so by the TfL journey planner, I should be able to get to Latimer Road by 12.00. (I voted 12.30 though to give me a bit more time, although an earlier start will save me having to hang around). (Had, say, East Putney or Manor House come out as the start, I'd struggle to get there by 12.00).

As a matter of interest, is it fairly straightforward to walk from Marylebone to Edgware Road (Circle/H&C station) (this is what the TfL journey planner suggested to get between Marylebone and Latimer Road)? I initially thought of walking to Baker Street, but I tried the journey planner and it came out with a walk to Edgware Road instead.

12:30 please as then we can leave Stansted on the 10:50 (it's the only fast train each hour) and be at King's Cross via Tottenham Hale at 11:45, then we can cruise to Latimer Road with plenty of time to spare. ;) Any earlier and chances are it'll be a struggle to make it in time.

I also remember some talk a while back about including a map of where the pub/meeting place is at the end of the challenge as last time we did this (in November), we failed to find the pub in the Barbican. Could this possibly be done before Saturday or at the least give us an easy place to find! :P

Admittedly I was doing it Edgware Road->Marylebone, its a little more tricky that direction as the mainline station is rather tucked away. (And I've never been above ground in that particular part of London, other than for the Edgware Rd run, and along Edgware Rd itself..)

Don't worry, the Horse and Groom is way easier to find than the Barbican one. It is on Great Portland Street, so either alight at GPS and walk down, where the pub will be on the left or alternatively alight at Oxford Circus and walk up Great Portland Street, where you will find the pub on the right. It is a long road, so don't worry that you think you've gone wrong after a couple of minutes of not seeing the pub - not until you get to the end, anyway

(You can also get there from Goodge Street, but it's fiddly from there so unless you are armed with an A-Z, don't bother :) )

I presume we are using the Horse and Groom again? If so, it's fairly easy to find, as al said above. You can also get there from Regent's Park (which I did last R15, when Great Portland Street station was closed. Great Portland Street station will, however, be open this Saturday.) From there, turn Right along Marylebone Road then right again onto Great Portland Street (you can see Great Portland Street station at the junction).

The Horse and Groom is near the junction between Great Portland Street and New Cavendish Street.

OK, that's fine. And if I still can't find the pub after reading these instructions, I'm doing something wrong! :P
