Xmas Park Challenge 2009/ 1st round of TCDL 2010 - 30th Dec

Post by Going Underground »

Ok barring a huge voting turnaround (Currently 8 - 5 in favour of 30th Dec) I would like to announce that the event will take place next Wednesday. This should allow people time to make necessary arrangements.

We will meet as near to 1130hrs as possible (If we can start by 1130 that would be 8) ) at Elm Park Station

There will be darts afterwards at the Horse & Groom, so this will be the post challenge meeting point and any "non" Park Challenges are welcome to come along for the evening.

Please add you name to the below and copy and paste if you are attending

What time do you envisage starting/finishing the darts? It's extremely doubtful that I'll be able to make either (whereas I can do the 29th - typical!!), but there's a slim chance that I may be able to turn up to the darts for an hour or so dependant on what time you expect to be playing.

I am guessing me could be done in 6 - 7 hours? I believe that Soup Dragon is heading to the pub for around 17:30hrs

I think Soup Dragon will have a long wait then!

The record is 7:26. Bearing in mind the Bakerloo line closure it will probably take longer than that. Then add an hour to get to the pub from wherever you finish and I doubt anyone will get there much before 20:30.

After saying I could go I've asked the very same question, as you did in December 2006!

It looks like a monster for route planning, especially for a non Londoner like me!

Hmm, I wonder if I can fit a mini-challenge in the free-transport period of New Year's eve? (23:45-04:30) tubes will still be running throughout that period...

I'll confirm for the 30th nearer the date.

Presumably one could do an unofficial full network starting on Dec 31st 2009 and continuing through the night into 2010 (though not for free)?

This is be my first Park Challenge surprisingly, as I am not normally in London over the festive period but I am for this year. Therefore I would like to partake in this one (and the post challenge Darts).

I have a bit of a bombshell to drop.

I will probably take part in the challenge... and so will my father. He's been keen to do a challenge with me for a while, and as I'm not in the UK too often these days, he didn't want to miss this opportunity.

I suggested that the two of us could be on a team together (and I don't think it'd be a disaster if it ends up that way), but he would prefer some other people to team up with. Judging my the small number of attendees so far, it may be impractical to get more people to go around with us as well.

I shan't add our names to the list just yet, because I'm not 100% about it, but it seems likely.
