Xmas Park Challenge 2009 Poll
The voting has closed on the other topic relating to this and the clear winner was that the challenge should retain it's traditional slot.

Re: Xmas Park Challenge 2009 Poll
Are you aware the Bakerloo line is closed between Stonebridge Park and Queen's Park between Christmas and New Year?

No I wasn't and the 30th is winning the vote by some distance at the moment...greatkingrat wrote:Are you aware the Bakerloo line is closed between Stonebridge Park and Queen's Park between Christmas and New Year?
I see that rail replacement buses operating and I suggest that we have to visit those stations by these official buses, it adds a nice little twist and the way I see it you won't have to get off the bus either as once it stops you have technically visited the station and can take your external photo...
Everyones else happy with that ruling should the 29th or 30th have the most votes?
Also in view of Peter's findings I have amended the poll to allow re-voting should you so desire

Re: Xmas Park Challenge 2009 Poll
We could start at Stonebridge Park instead of Elm Park (although I understand that Elm Park has been the agreed starting point for quite some time, so I'm not sure you want to change that). It would give you an excuse to start somewhere a little unusual.
It is only the line between Queen's Park and Stonebridge Park that is out, so it would still be possible to visit both stations by tube train. However, a visit by the bus replacement service should also count as you rightly say. As long as the bus will stop close to the station building, it shouldn't be too problematic to take a photograph.
I agree - it makes it more interesting. There probably won't be a record breaking route this year, but I don't think that matters so much.
(Also, selfishly, I can only make 29 and 30 December...

Trying to get you two together for a Harry Hill style fight may be problematic!Starkey7 wrote:Sadly I can only make the 22nd and 23rd! Who's better - mps247 or I? There's only one way to find out...!
Returning to the point, I say roll with it. It will be quite interesting having to use the replacement bus service.
Held some Alternative Challenge records for a long time.

Re: Xmas Park Challenge 2009 Poll
Looks like a dead heat at the moment - unfortunately the only date either Starkey or I could possibly meet up to fight it out is the 24th, so I have an alternative:
There seems to be good interest in both dates, so perhaps something else should be organised on the date that loses out. Points of the Compass would be a good one as it hasn't been attempted for 2-and-a-half years. Should 30 December not be chosen for the Christmas Parks Challenge, I would be quite happy to organise Points of the Compass on this date instead. Let's see how the vote goes and I'll start a new topic depending on the result.

Re: Xmas Park Challenge 2009 Poll
The only date I can make is the 23rd but that depends on if I choose not to go and see the family in the Westcountry
EDIT: can't make any date now that mum has confirmed she has the day off....!

Well, I'm up for either challenge really, but would some people really want to do both in two weeks? Looking forward to it anyway. I've missed the Tube.

Re: Xmas Park Challenge 2009 Poll
OK the original poll was a 5 - 5 tie for 29th or 30th Dec. so this will definitely take place between Xmas and New Year
I have now amended the poll to show just these two dates and you can no re-vote again to decide which one is preferable
And yes there most certainly will be darts afterwards probably at The Horse & Groom

Re: Xmas Park Challenge 2009 Poll
When is the date going to be finalised for this? I currently have the 29th off but am trying to get the 30th off as well!

Re: Xmas Park Challenge 2009 Poll
I have left it to run until 27th Dec., the 30th is looking favourite at the moment and that is day I have booked off next week so fingers crossed we don't get a late surge of "29th's"Sam wrote:When is the date going to be finalised for this?
