Re: Poll for what date to do Z1 2010 on ...
I've been thinking: why have this on a Friday? Surely Saturday would be best (as with the R15s), because then people are off work and so you would get more people attending. I fail to see a good reason to use a weekday when it could just as well be done in the weekend.

Plus we normally have the relevant round of the R15 championship on the Saturday following...

You would have to find a Saturday where the entirety of Zone 1 was free of engineering works. You would also have to bow to inevitability of overall times being slower than on a Friday due to fewer trains running.
Apart form that I see no reason why you can't do it on a Saturday. Except hoards of tourists everywhere ALL day, whereas on a Friday afternoon it's relatively quiet.

I was going to say the same thing - why a Friday...
but then again, I was going to say that it could be done earlier in the week rather than the weekend

The first one was held on a Friday in 2004 and it has just been the custom to continue that.

I say this every year, it seems - wouldn't it be better to have a poll where it is possible to select multiple options? Then everyone can vote for ALL the days that suit them, and we can choose the one which will result in the highest attendance. Otherwise, the most popular day may not also be the most populous.

Root is right. Also, I think tradition really rules it should be in May.. On the other hand it's really up to whoever organises it to decide, right?

I agree with Root, that is how I tend to run all the polls that I do for the R15 challenges.
One day I shall return!

You say that 'tradition' states that it's been in May - but from what I can gather, it's been on the Friday during the summer half term, which is usually the last Friday in May, but this year is the first in June (still the Monday after the second May Bank Holiday).

(I've a term time contract... please keep it during half term

How can he have a technical AND a legal obligation? A technicality is usually something that in mitigation against a legal obligation.palkanetoijala31 wrote:moley voluntered Garion technically has a legal obligation to help him.***** wrote:So ...
