Random 15 Championship 2009/10
Welcome to the Random 15 Championship for 2009/10.
A few suggestions for the next championship have already found their way into the BERC's postbag.
Round 1 (July) could include all DLR stations in Z1/2, of course there is no guarantee that any will come out but they will be in the hat for the random draw. Perhaps we could increase the number of rounds to six, but I don't want to kill the sacred cow that laid the golden egg. This would spread the challenges across July, September, November, January, March & May. Double points for the final round, should we keep this in place? Perhaps a round which includes all LO stations in Z1/Z2. One round on a Sunday rather than Saturday perhaps? And the September R15 to start from Aldwych and everyone sprint Le Mans style to the next station (or take a bus from here). Maybe it's easiest to vote on each option and add any comments that you feel would improve this years championship.
1. July to include DLR yes/no
2. September Aldwych start yes/no
3. Number of rounds 5/6
4. Double points last round yes/no
5. A round including LO yes/no
6. Include a Sunday round yes/no

I agree with Peter actually on the double points issue with x1.5 instead.

We could perhaps do one or two Sunday rounds, if we go with 6 rounds maybe split 4 on saturday and 2 on sunday.palkanetoijala31 wrote:Are all these r15 on a Saturday mr soup Dragon.?or perhaps 1 on a sunday.?

Re: Random 15 Championship 2009/10
As an R15 newbie this season, I probably shouldn't get a say, anyway:
1. July to include DLR - yes
2. September Aldwych start - yes (edited)
3. Number of rounds - no opinion
4. Double points last round - no opinion - but would prefer it to not clash my exams
5. A round inclunding LO - no opinion
6. Include a Sunday round - yes
Hope to see everyone at the first event!

I'd actually be quite averse to a sunday round. especially when you think about it, the reduced tube service is only the beginning of problems that would arise. LO services are barely existent, engineering works tend to be more extensive than on saturdays, the less frequent tubes would mean longer times to complete the challenge, dragging it further into the evening (less time at the pub). Plus those of us who don't live in London will find it harder to make it in with reduced services and engineering works being more extensive. I'd prefer a round or two on a weekday evening in the warmer months, it would be nice to do it with a fully open network and a few less people.

considering how there's always district/victoria/jubilee line partly closed during weekends, to do one on sunday seems nightmarish to me lol

Re: Random 15 Championship 2009/10
I know I've only done one of these, but what the hell:
1. July to include DLR yes - not necessarily July, but one R15 to include DLR stations.
2. September Aldwych start no - I don't like running.
3. Number of rounds 6 - one extra round with DLR, and one with LO
4. Double points last round no - instead, I'd like to see a Joker being put in much like some pub quizzes, where a contestant can nominate a R15 before they start to get double points on. If they end up bottom of the pack, tough tits.
5. A round inclunding LO yes - see 3.
6. Include a Sunday round no - I think it'll be difficult, for the reasons Dudey mentioned above.

I hate to be the one to point out a copy/paste spelling mistake, but what does inclunding mean?

Re: Random 15 Championship 2009/10
This reminds me of checking out your MPs voting record at http://www.theyworkforyou.com
. How Hassan voted on key issues concerning the R15 2009/10 championship:
1. July to include DLR yes
(voted moderately for if combined with LO round)
2. September Aldwych start yes
(voted very strongly for)
3. Number of rounds 5
(voted moderately against)
4. Double points last round abstained
(has never voted on this)
5. A round inclunding LO yes
(voted moderately for if combined with DLR round)
6. Include a Sunday round no
(voted very strongly against for the same reasons that dudey stated)
Occasionally rebels
Edgemaster, your vote does count even if you are a newbie - it is next season that we are voting on, which you will be taking part in.
