Random 15 - December 6th 2008

Post by al »

After yesterday's Zone 1/2 challenge, I seem to remember people mentioning a R15 on the above date, starting at Wood Lane. I cannot see a thread currently existing for it, so thought I would start one. This is if course foolish if I was just imagining it...

In connection with it, the idea was floated that of all the people that turned up, their names would be put in a hat and then drawn in pairs, to add an extra random element to it. I rather like this plan as a way to potentially shake up some established partnerships, and maybe get to know another challenger a bit better.

Is there a decent amount of interest in this event?

I shall definitely be turning up to this official R15WC event. I don't want to slip even further down the table!

I like the idea of the Random pairings, adds a bit of spice to it, and perhaps we could add some kind of Xmas theme/slant to it somehow. Perhaps we can have the tubeform xmas party afterwards and get a proper meal?

[quote="scrxisi"]The thread is at http://www.tubeforum.co.uk/forum/viewto ... 767#p23767[quote]

Thought it must be somewhere - didn't look in the Tube Challenge section though, only the Alternative section :(

I like the idea of random pairings. If someone wants to go solo then that is fine, but if you prefer to team up for this challenge we go with the velvety bag and ping pong balls.

Open to suggestions on where to meet afterwards for a xmas drink / meal.

With this being a Random 15 the teams could end up all over the shop, so it's best to pick somewhere fairly central. The two regular pubs that we frequent both offer a food service usually but I'm not sure about saturday evenings? Perhaps we should go with a 12 o'clock start, which gives time for the challenge (3-4 hours), get to the pub, have a meal, and then an xmas darts tournament. (then at least Kevin might win something)

I can say with certainty that the Horse and Groom does NOT serve food on a Saturday, although there are a couple of Italian restaurants and a McDonalds nearby.

Excellent that's a pretty decent standard, 2 of the Ashford boys have played for Middx county but gave up as too much travelliing around for 1 game of darts.....
We run into a few county players on a Thurs night..Most legs are over in maximum 21 darts..

Back on topic, we have a bit of an issue with the drawing of team-mates / random pairings... 3 people have told me that they are not really comfortable / happy with this and definitely won't be coming if this is an enforced rule...... This would be a shame as the numbers have been good in past events and we want as many people to come along and be as happy as possible..

Could I therefore propose the following; If you want to pair up with someone of your choice or go as part of an agreed team then this should be fine. If you would like to be put in the draw and get a partner / team-mate at random then again this should be no problem....

Most importantly of all, who is running off the Radom 15 program this time around????
In the past we relied on Ric or Hakan to send someone the list of randomly drawn stations.
Anyone care to volunteer, assuming Ric/Hakan don't view this post???
Many thanks :)
