Re: DLR
Will Tower Gateway re-open after, or at the same time, as Woolwich Arsenal opens?
If TG re-opens first, then the record should not be rested because we will able to challenge it again in future (although interim records can be set). If not, then we may as well make a new record.
I know I could find out myself, but I'm tired...

Re: DLR
Well the current announced re-opening of Tower Gateway is 'Spring 2009. And the scheduled opening of the Woolwich Arsenal extension is February 2009. So at the moment it looks like Woolwich Arsenal will be open before TG.Root wrote:Will Tower Gateway re-open after, or at the same time, as Woolwich Arsenal opens?

I would agree with Matt that we should rest the DLR record until both are open, if not we will have an interim record for the DLR not including TG, but that seems a bit pointless seeing as this is a pretty minor record anyway.

Re: DLR
Thursday 26th June would suit me best if this goes ahead.
I guess if anyone wants to claim a record once TG has closed then that is fine, but it would be fairly meaningless as this is only a temporary station closure. If playing by GWR rules you would still have to visit the station by replacement bus for the record to count anyway.

Re: DLR
According to Wikipedia article on Tower Gateway
According to DLR website
39 station record (with TG) Before 28 June 2008
38 station record (without TG) 28 June 2008 - February 2009
39 station record (with Woolwich Arsenal but without TG) February 2009- 01 April 2009
40 station record (with Woolwich Arsenal and TG) 01 April 2009 onwards
Well we did already have a 38 station record before Langdon Park opened but these obviously aren't comparable.
So if we went out before 28 June it would be the last time to get the 39 station record with Tower Gateway.
Further major alterations will take place at the station between 30 June 2008 and April 2009.
According to DLR website
So with Woolwich Arsenal opening in February 2009 it would seem there would be the following:28 June 2008 - 01 April 2009- Temporary closure of Tower Gateway station
39 station record (with TG) Before 28 June 2008
38 station record (without TG) 28 June 2008 - February 2009
39 station record (with Woolwich Arsenal but without TG) February 2009- 01 April 2009

Re: DLR
Can we start from 19:30 as I'm coming from work? And yeh the Captain Kidd afterwards sound good to me!scrxisi wrote:I should think so. Anyone else coming? I have no idea where is best to meet (poplar at 6.30 like last year?), but suggest we start asap after 7 and then head for a pub/burger joint - if there's enough people, could make the Captain Kidd (via ELW) worthwhile? I'm open to suggestions. Please post (or re-post) if you are coming along so we know what's happening

Re: DLR
Yes I agree that you just start where you like between 7-7:30pm. This was similar arrangement at DLR21 last year. Once you've completed head to the Captain Kidd.
See you all tomorrow... now I best work on my route

Re: DLR
Might i suggest that maybe we all meet up at Poplar beforehand anyway? That way we get to say hellos and whatnot and then we also know who to expect at the pub. We can then all make our way to our chosen start stations and make a start for 7.30. So we could meet at Poplar about 6.45-7pm? Obviously if you'll be running a bit later then just go straight to the start.
Just another thing, are you sure the ELW is reliable/regular? I'm not a big fan of Replacement buses, and i'm not particually keen on it given we could just go somewhere a bit more convenient. There is a spacious pub i remember underneath Tower Gateway station, but of course this is just my opinion and if people prefer the Captain Kidd then that's fine.
I better go plan my route!

I agree that TG would possibly be easier than Wapping, is this the pub you mean?

Re: DLR
I don't know if anyone coming tonight will actually see this, but I thought I'd post on here that my plan now is to go straight to Lewisham on southeastern, and that is my planned start. I should be getting into lewisham about 1915, and I plan to start my DLR attempt at around 1930. So if anyone is planning to start from Lewisham then I'll see you there!
