That's something of a tradition that has just carried on. No one can be forced to organise anything if they don't want to. I certainly wouldn't be arsed if I'd won it.

Surely as Moley is the only one to have put his name forward, he should do it....

Geoff seems quite interested in who is organising it this year so maybe he should do it ...

As we seem set on a date you might want to consider the venue and time required for booking.. If everyone is happy to go back to The H & G again we can have a word with the manager when we visit during the various events at Tube Olympics....garion24wales wrote:I dont mind helping/doing it but since it was my first challenge last year, I'm still kinda new to this so I would appreciate the help

One of the reasons that my dad didn't fancy going to the pub after the recent Park Challenge was because The Horse and Groom is a Samuel Smith's pub. He's one of those picky "real ale" types, see, and thinks that they all serve terrible beer.Going Underground wrote:As we seem set on a date you might want to consider the venue and time required for booking.. Just letting you know, I'm sure it won't affect your decision...

It's not the best and the H & G don't even do real ale, but the beer is only £1.95 a pint and has a dartboard so fits most requirements...Root wrote:One of the reasons that my dad didn't fancy going to the pub after the recent Park Challenge was because The Horse and Groom is a Samuel Smith's pub. Also for Z1 the function room is about the right size and they serve food, but we are always opn to suggestions

When we organised it, finding a child-friendly pub was the most important thing. We actually had one venue booked but then cancelled when we secured a better one.

As long as it isnt the pub with the horrible barman i dont care.!
Re: Poll for what date to do Z1 2010 on ...
Lets gets this going so people can organise days off work for example Geoff my quiz can also be organise for the pub afterwards.***** wrote:do you want me (&Neil, my trusty sidekick) to organise it then? i'll do nothing special, same old:
- Noon meet, hat picked station, 1pm start
- Horse & Groom afterwards (cheap beer, function room, food, darts)
- Some sort of trophy
usual rules apply.
there, it's half organised already.
June 4th, then? i'll go and design a logo ...

Sounds good. Keep in mind, however, that Geoff's original Trophy (2005) has since been promoted to a Cup, including engravings. The (unwritten) rules state that whoever gets his or her name there a third time will win it forever. Thus, since 2008, this event is called the Zone 1 Challenge Cup or Z1CC. Currently the Cup is kept by Garion and Andi!palkanetoijala31 wrote:Lets gets this going so people can organise days off work for example Geoff my quiz can also be organise for the pub afterwards.***** wrote:do you want me (&Neil, my trusty sidekick) to organise it then? i'll do nothing special, same old:
