I'm having my first crack at this on Tuesday July 3rd. Not eligible for the Guinness as I'm taking a folding bike (an old Bickerton) with me, but purely for fun, and also to try to raise £1000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital. I first planned this with a student friend about 35 years ago, but we never got round to it. Have been working in Berkshire for the last few years, but finishing that soon, so doing this while I can. Starting at Upminster as the sun comes up - wish me luck!

You've saddled yourself with quite a task there.

Do the first two posts in this thread appear in larger type to the others? Or is it just me?

Good luck in your challenge. Interested to see how much using a bike speeds things up. I imagine that you can do runs like Ickenham to West Ruislip, North Harrow to Rayners Lane quicker than on foot.

Yeah I noticed that, but didn't think much of it.

Did you handle it? Did you put the brakes on? Did you knock bells out of it, putting the pedal down, or lever it alone halfway?
Is it not to be spoke of, or was it wheely good? Did you chain-ge your route on the go? Take much gear with you?

Especially when Neil uses the same one in two separate posts.
Two - geddit? Like, the number of wheels on a bicycle!
I'm not very good at puns. I can never come up with anything bespoke.

Yeah, but Neil's more at the hub of the activity than you!

I'm getting pumped! This should be a sport... I can't decide whether there should be frames or seats , which would be best for a brake of swerve? What would cause more suspense?
Sorry, these are wheely bad, I shall stop pun-ishing you now...
