Re: Comic Relief 2011
Progress report:
--Key bus route timetables printed off (routes U1, 299, 307)
--Departure times from key stations (Tube and rail) of trains less than every 5 minutes, all noted in a small notebook- saving carrying my big rail times book.
--Sponsorship form already in my work canteen- with donations
--Camera and camcorder batteries charged (or on charge now)
--Outfit decided and ready
To do:
--Witness statement form. Can I please have ALL the names of everyone taking part over the whole route and if you want a small avatar sized photo of yourself on the form (so Joe Public can see who is in the group) then send one to me/contact me before Thursday afternoon.
So everything is going well here.

Re: Comic Relief 2011
This is turning into a nightmare....
I planned final training runs for Tues & Weds of this week and shortly into my run last night I got a nasty sharp pain near my right ankle... Tried to carry on but got worse... Stopped and walked for 50 yards or so pain seemed to go away so tried jogging again and within seconds it returned....Repeated this and had to give up and walk home...
This is weird I have strapped the foot/ankle today and to be honest you can't feel anything except every so often especially when going upstairs you will just feel a sharp twinge, almost like it's collapsing on me...... I am still planning to come on Friday but can't believe after months of route planning and hard training runs where my times have been getting faster every week that this has happened in the final week....

Re: Comic Relief 2011
Sorry to hear about your ankle. Sounds very similar to what happened to me last week. Now 10 days later, although the initial sharp pain was in my calf, it is my ankle which remains more painful. From the days when I used used to be a reasonable athlete, I know these sorts of injuries can't be rushed, and can be very unpredictable as to how long they take to recover. Fingers crossed for you.

Re: Comic Relief 2011
Damo, only the odd slight twinge of sharp pain every so often... I am driving to work tomorrow anyway as I need to take the car up to North end of Met Line.........nozzacook wrote:Kev how is it when on the bike.
More worryingly I tried the gentlest of gentle jogs about an hour ago and didn't get 50 yards up the road and that was also slightly limping to try and relieve it..... It's the weirdest thing just this sharp pain kicks in around the ankle ligament area it just came from nowhere last night. I haven't twisted it or slipped or anything....
I am so pissed off and frustrated after 3 months of training and route planning to get this 3 days before is just soul destroying....
The ankle strapping is hopeless and does nothing... You can be walking around the room perfectly fine and then all of sudden this sharp pain just kicks in........ Like I said it collapses and just feels like it gives way under pressure....
At best I can probably walk briskly....
I don't know what to do now I was starting to get all my stuff together tonight to save rushing around too much on Thursday night....
Will try some ice on it but what I really need is a pain killing injection as given to sportsmen...
So fed up I could burst into tears over this

Re: Comic Relief 2011
Sorry to hear that Kev :/ Hard as it is to take, my advice is not to bother risking it if it doesn't show a marked improvement tomorrow - it sounds like it is muscle/cartiledge/ligament based, so spending 18 hours on the tubes trying to semi-rush between trains is not a good idea - you don't want to end up making the injury even worse!

Re: Comic Relief 2011
I can only guess it's some kind of compound stress injury... For my relatively good fitness levels with improved cardiovascular and strong legs from cycling I am nearly 100 kilos and that is a lot of pressure and weight to be carting around on ankle and knee joints...
