Re: wikipedia provisional or not only records.?
The problem is that while we can state that Andi was the record holder on 14/12/09, we may not know that someone else got the record on say 09/12/09 and held it only for five days.
Therefore we imply that Sam was the GWR holder from 04/12/09 thru 13/12/09 when in fact, she may only have held the reord until (given my above example) 08/12/09.*
I can take this point - it is difficult to verify a full history as GWR won't tell us. The Administrator is taking the view that as gaps are possible, it is not correct to post at all.
I do wait for the day that someone not registered on here becomes GWR holder!!!! That will put the cat amongst the pigeons.
That said, there is other information on that page which should be reserected, with appropriate citations.
*I'm not aware of any other record holders - its just an example.

I'm still intrigued about who should be apologising to whom...

Re: wikipedia provisional or not only records.?
If Guinness want to be recognised as the sole record arbitrator (and should they, really?) then they really should provide a list of every record on a website somewhere. It can't be that hard.
Doesn't the certificate say that it does not guarantee an entry in the book of records? Contrary to the old style GWR books (which did list pretty much every record), the new ones just have a snapshot of the ones that they think readers might find interesting. For example, the demanding and challenging record of how many slugs you can fit on your face.

Guinness confirmed to me the last 4 record holders were correct in another post i believe i presume that they could probably go back further than that so why dont i email them for the previous 20 for example.

Re: wikipedia provisional or not only records.?
I was fleshing out the alternative challenge pages on the wiki with details and maps, I did have quite a few uploaded there. Luckily I still have versions saved on my computer.RichieG wrote:I didn't realise there was (or wasn't now) a wiki here - I was thinking of setting one up a couple of weeks ago now as there isn't the info on the alternative challenges anywhere but didn't mainly because I didn't think there'd be much of a point given that Scriv has all (or at least the vast majority*) the times listed on his site, and thought that with a bit of tweaking that site could be used to give challenge information as well as times so was, once I get the darts program out of the way, going to approach him with the subject. Ah well.
I am however working on a few maps of the alternative challenges (I used a couple when I had the Winter Tube Olympics site up and going) but am going to do a bit more work on them because to be honest the original ones I did were shit. If you want them I'll pass them onto whomever once they're done although it's probably going to be one of those long-running projects to do once slipped in amongst all the other long-running projects I'm doing in my spare time!

Re: wikipedia provisional or not only records.?
Does it really matter? It's all got out of hand, we have web pages that display the records.... Geoffs page and Matts League Tables being 2 of them.
Wikipedia doesn't really matter, at the end of the day, we don't do this for Wikipedia, we do it because we want to and we can

Or someone could put the data in an academic paper about solving the travelling salesman problem.palkanetoijala31 wrote:I did notice something in Im the Cavalry write up and i quote if somebody writes a book on it.Does that mean if i wrote a book on tube challenging say from 1959-present day and got it published even if only read by 1 person he have to except it as sourceable evidence.

It seems to have died down this page anyway keep it in its current format then everybody is happy. What thing i dont understand is how can Alastair Bell route be a veriable source if it isnt in a paper or bbc news and get the year right why dont ya!
Re: wikipedia provisional or not only records.?
Now that the Cavalry Has Galloped off into Sunset (with still no apology)The encyclopedic bit of wikipedia page has got much better without his constant interferance. Please can somebody Changed Alastair Bell year please though as if he had posted his route in 1991 then if would have been 8 years before Jubilee Line extension.
