Has anyone thought about just setting a new record after the event by not doing the ELL or using the bus service and just claiming the record under GWR existing rules. As they will have visited all the LU stations. I see no point in hassling Guinness over this before hand. Just give them a well documented new record enclosing as part of the evidence the press release that shows the ELL is no longer a LU Line. Problem solved...

As Neil said you take a risk, but the slim chance is always there that Guiness might just go for the easy option.

I bet you 50p, that when the whole of the ELL comes off and is turned into (not replaced by) a bus service, that it will come OFF the tube map, and THAT'S the time to go and set a 268 station record under a new configuration.

Even Guinness can't argue that you should do a line/stations that aren't shown on a tube map anymore.

I think that when that time comes, everyone who's ever got within 10-15 minutes of the current record should make a concerted effort to set a new record, just so we've got a decent benchmark to work towards.

Also, as far as getting an "all 275" record now - well, it's unlikely that anyone's going to beat Hakan + co (I really should look up who did it with him, they do deserve mentioning), but am I right in thinking that Heathrow T4's open again (I might be a tad behind the times here), meaning bar closures like Regent's Park, the only major difference to the full 275 at the moment (and until December when the ELL has buses running up its tracks[1]) is having to get the bus to Shoreditch??

If so, it'd be interesting to see how close it's possible to get to the record in the current configuration.

Looks like more practise challenges such as Z1s for me then until the ELL shuts down for good as a LUL line. Only then will I consider doing an All Stations Challenge.

Well can I have 50 p then, because the whole Overground network is definitely staying on the tube map as confirmed by TfL.
This is the 2010 map that has been released, although some things might change still.

The clue is in the word 'Overground' on the index.

Yes it obviously is. There is a good article on the London Overground on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Overground
But the person I was replying to said it wouldn't be on the map, not whether it would be shown as a 'tube line'. The difference between those two sorts of lines is going to be very small, actually. I don't really see how the Met. is more of a tube line than the Overground will be, for example.
