A request for an interview for the BBC Russian Service

Post by Margo »

Greerings, Challengers!

My name is Margo and I am a journalist contributing to the BBC Russian
Service. I am currently working on a weekly program about various
aspects of life in Britain. The program is broadcast in Russia.

I would like to do a story on the Tube Challenge -- I think it's a fantastic project, and I am sure people would love to hear about it in Russia! I am actually looking for sources who would agree to give me a short interview about Tube Challenge.

So if you're in London and you think you could do this, please let me know by replying here or by sending me an e-mail to margo.grigoryan (@) gmail.com . I promise, the interview will not take too long! :)

Come on - there must be SOME publicity-hungry tube challengers out there ...

Perhaps you should come to a challenge during the October Mid Term Break!! You will find plenty of publicity hungry challengers there.

I'm glad that you asked. A very small challenge is happening this Saturday (14th October). We are attempting to visit every station within the two Northern line branches. It's called the Mouse challenge because if you turn the map sideways, you see the shape of a mouse.

We're meeting on that day at 7pm at Russell Square, on the westbound platform. Do join us!

Oh, and here are a few more details:

Thank you, this is just wonderful! I will be there with my Minidisk recorder. If possible, I would love to join someone from the Challengers for some part of their Mouse adventure to get better understanding of the challenge.

Now the question is, how do I recognize the Challengers? Banners, t-shirts, badges?

we look rather obvious, look for a group firstly, a few of us should have backpacks, possibly dressed in shorts depending on the weather for some of us. also there are some pictures of various tubechallengers knocking around for extra help.

when i first met the group i was nervous as to how to spot them but you just tell. most people won't be standing around in a group too, so if you see people who after one or two trains have gone through, haven't left, it's probably us.

TBH I did a bit of research into this last night, and then thought about the comment about coming to a challenge. I might try and make the mouse challenge now, and learn some Russian from my Moldovan colleague

Please be aware that the Mouse Challenge MAY be taking place a little earlier than 7pm.....possibly from 5pm onwards....

We won't actually know until Saturday afternoon so if anyone is doing this challenge and wants to PM their mobile number I can update you during the afternoon..... :)

I now think I'm in Balham till 5, so can probably join you but not as early as five. Would certainly be interested in taking part in the media opportunity.....where's Geoff when you need him?

5pm is very optimistic anyway so lets leave this as 7pm then originally posted...

Yes, I think that 7pm is quite a good idea. I'll try to be there (on the westbound platform) on the dot, and then I'll just hang around suspiciously until everybody else arrives. We probably ought to stay until at least 7:25pm to allow people plenty of time.

It'll all be over by 9:10pm, and then guess where we're going after that?
