We are still route planning atm hopefully we will organise some accomodation at the start and end places dependant on the number of people taking part.

If you register your NOT commiting to taking part. There is a section once logged in to confirm whether your taking part or not.

I will be moving the Downloads section to be accessible by all.

Matt
I am not 100% certain I can make this, but if so I will be able to get to Amersham for the start.. My problem is then going to be getting back home or having somewhere to stay at the end...So please keep me updated with the plans Matt..... :D

I'm not certain that I can make this, because my main problem is getting to and from the start and end points. If we end at Heathrow then it'll look pretty promising (because I can then get the 140 bus home); if we end at Upminster it's looking dodgier.

If Going Underground is going, and is driving to the start (on the morning of the day itself) and if he's accidentally going via the Ruislip area, then I'll be able to come!

I think that it'll be quite amusing if we all had the same route, as long as there aren't too many of us. But if not, then hopefully I'll be able to team up with somebody.

IF I can make it I have the offer of a lift to Amersham so we can certainly go via Rusilip area and grab you on the way...

I don't have a route or the knowledge to even attempt one so I would follow around or team up....

A Heathrow finish would be excellent as I can easily get home to Ashford, rather then getting stranded at Upminster so if you have a route for this that would be excellent.... :D

Ah! In that case, things are really looking up. Shall I start planning things? I think that you and I should team up this time, because we've always been on opposing teams before!

Actually see if you can plan a route too, and then we can just pick the best one!

OK JS, lets team up hopefully Dr Who can join us as well.......Yes start planning things and Amersham - Heathrow would be good :D
I don't think I have the knowledge to even attempt a plan, but if there are any bits you get stuck with then just PM and we can talk over...
At last this could be 274/275 here we come 8)

Good stuff! Obviously it's totally different from planning a Zone 1, but it's surprisingly similar to planning a Zone 1/2 route, because in both you have to tie up those annoying loose ends (such as Cockfosters and Stanmore).

Are we going to bother with Shoreditch? I don't really like the idea of being constrained to go there at a certain time.

Also, I'm good at logging times, but not so good at taking photos or approaching potential witnesses or getting train numbers. So it'll have to be a team effort!

Lastly I've just had a thought. If you drive to Amersham, then how on earth are you going to get your car back down to Surrey?!

Well I am hoping to come as well if you have room for me in your team and I can certainly take care of the photos :D
As far as I am concerned Shoreditch station is closed, remember our photo from last week
So are we also going for a GWR at the same time then?

By the way G.U. didn't actually say HE was driving, we are hoping for a friendly lift :D

Matt

Sorry but when exactly is the event scheduled for..? This topic only seems to mention Friday 17th Nov. which I am 90% certain to attend.... :D

However on your website below it mentions Thursday 16th Nov which unfortunately is almost certainly not possible for me

If it comes down to a choice of days I would vote for Fri 17th Nov, I don't know if anyone else has any views on this?

Ya I can confirm that the event is taking place Thursday 16th November 2006. BBC Children in Need appeal night is Friday 17th November 2006. We have the BBC joining up with us some part of the day on the Thursday.

A meet up the evening before is being scheduled, still in the process of confirming a location dependant on the number of people who confirm participating.

In the next fortnight should see a massive update on the event and whats happening etc....

That is most disappointing as I have been gearing myself towards Friday 17th Nov and I know at least 3 other people on this forum are interested but to work and educational commitments they can only make the 17th as well... :(
I am sure that you would get far more people doing this if it could be done on the Friday and as this is the actual children in need day it would make more sense anyway.....

Oh blast. Friday 17th would be so much easier for me as well, for various reasons, and would seem more logical: if it's on the Thursday you'd have to take that day and also the Friday off work. Is there no chance at all that it could be changed? I'd not be able to do the challenge without some way of getting up to Amersham in the morning, so I'd be stuck...

Please let us know soon whether you'd be able to change the plans.

Kevin and Jamie, I've now formed a splendid Amersham to Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3 route. It has forty changes and some very nice little features - plus we're going to be using the Waterloo and City line! I'll send the details via a private message shortly. If things don't work out concerning the 16th/17th thing, then maybe we can do it some other time.

All sounds good I only have one days leave left this year and in view of this the 16th is a no go for me which is a great shame.... :(
Soup Dragon is also very keen to do this as well, but again can only make the 17th Nov....
So there you have it, 4 people that can definitely commit to the 17th only... the ball is in you court Matt...
I agree if things don't work out for 16th/17th then we will find a mutually convenient date for the Amersham - Heathrow plan :D

I tell you what, why not take the 17th off anyway? If it's changed to the 17th, all is well and good. (Although I imagine that camera crews and suchlike have tight schedules, so that might be a little difficult.) If it's not changed, then why don't we go for it on the 17th anyway? There's always the problem of transport, but if all else fails we can try getting a taxi up to Amersham. (Would Chesham be better I wonder?)

I imagine that most contestants will want to finish at Upminster, so we're already rocking the boat quite a bit by going to Heathrow!

Let's see if the date can be changed to 17th Nov first if so then a definite yes.... If not then we are not so restricted and can try the Heathrow finish a little sooner in the year...(Fri 27th Oct is very good for me). I can pretty much certainly get us dropped of at Amersham (or Chesham) both via Ruislip on either of these dates...Do you have any objections if Soup Dragon joins our team?

No, it'd be great if he can join us! I think that four is a good size for a team, although if K9 and Ping Pon [sic] decide to come as well it might get a bit hectic!
