Looks like that there will be a German attempt at the tube challenge next year after T4 re-opens. There is a site all about it (in German) http://www.tubechallenge.de

Ooooh.... sounds like they have quite a team...

I think a few of us should all meet up one morning at Amersham or wherever, and do a full challenge together. A big Tube Challenge gathering doing the whole system.

In fact, it could even be like the Zone 1 Day, but with the whole system...

September anyone? I'd like to start from Heathrow.

Negative, Will Robinson. It's Amersham or bust!

edit: but September sounds good, any day up to approximately the 25th.

The Germans are attempting not only the full record, but the main alternative challenges as well. Are they doing them all on the same day? With ideally a different person doing each one (some are not taken yet), they could easily do them all at the same time, and then the alternative challengers could go and meet up with the full challengers.

A full challenge day? Sounds good to me. But forget that; we need to get in touch with whoever is in charge of this German team and propose an England vs. Germany tube match.

Couldn't the Swedes be invited too? :?

I'm contemplating a go att the whole thing myself and September is not totally unrealistic...

But then again - don't invite us and then imagine a Germany vs England showdown and the Swedes take it away anyway...

And now Sweden is in.

Looks like the Eurotube Tournament is getting under way.

Are people seriously considering that this would be a good idea?

I mean, as someone who does daft things for the hell of it, this kind of appeals but then again ...

We WOULD have to get in contact with the Germans to arrange it all and of course, they're probably reading this now anyway!

It might seem quite far-fetched now, but if we did it, it would be legendary. It would involve quite a bit of organising, but we could share the responsibilities between countries. We would also draw up a list of what events/challenges would be taking place. The five that the Germans have in mind to attempt seem very good choices. We could cram it into one day, or spread it out over a few, depending on various circumstances. The Germans seem to be quite dedicated to their project, and they might want to do it with no distractions, but I believe they might at least think about making some competition.
At the risk of getting really ahead of myself here, remember that there are French and Russian challengers out there as well. If this takes off by any remote chance, we could let them in on it too.

Is this going to be a strictly inter-country thing, or could we have a number of teams from each country racing on the same day? That would be ultimately great.

But then, how would you decide which country has the best time given that some have more teams than others? Take the average time for multi-team countries?

It says 2006 on the webpage.

Will the ELL be gone by that stage does anyone know?

When I say "September", I mean this year. Waiting until next year is a bad idea: just think how many of us could die before then.

Dear God no!

They must be stopped. Or threatened with a return match round the Berlin U Bahn
