Here follows full details of Event 4 of Tube Olympics 2026, the Nordic Combined, which will take place on the 19th of February 2026. This event combines your traditional Tube Challenge skills with your general knowledge.

The Nordic Combined is split into two parts. Part one is a 60 minute tube challenge and part two is a pub quiz. Points scored from both parts of this event will be combined to give your final score. Medals will be awarded to the top three highest aggregate points scorers. More details below:

Part one: Tube Challenge

1. You have 60 minutes to visit as many UNIQUE London Underground stations as possible, 1 point is available for each one visited.

2. An additional 2 points can be gained if you interchange between lines, either internally or externally. So an interchange between the Northern and Jubilee at London Bridge would yield 3 points (1 point for the station and 2 for the interchange). An external interchange say between Warren Street and Euston Square will yield 4 points (1 point for each station plus 2 for the interchange).

3. An interchange between two lines that share the SAME tracks to the next station will NOT count. Therefore a change at Euston Square between the Circle and Met will gain you nothing!

4. A successful interchange will only count when the doors on the train you are departing on are locked closed prior to departure, beware of this when you are near to the end of your 60 minutes.

5. Doubling back through the same interchange twice will not score you any additional points see the examples below.

6. You may start at any station you desire in between 1730 and 1800. You only have ONE attempt, therefore once you have started you may NOT reset your watch and start again

Part two: Pub quiz

The pub quiz is exactly that... a traditional pub quiz held at The World's End, 21 Stroud Green Road, Finsbury Park, N4 3EF commencing at 19:30 sharp, entry fee of £2.00 per head (cash only).

Although the quiz starts at 19:30, we have been asked to arrive in good time to get settled and order drinks before the quiz formally starts (minimum 15 minutes before), so please bear this in mind in your route planning for part 1. The quiz may be done in teams and not necessarily the partner you did part 1 with.

Points gained from both parts will then be combined together to give your total score, therefore it is important that challengers do not talk amongst each other about how many points they think they may have scored in part one as this could influence which team you join for the quiz.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Examples of Nordic Combined scoring:

--Example 1: Say you are travelling from Camden Town to Moorgate on the Northern Line (Bank Branch), and you decide to change at KXSP to the Victoria Line and go back to Euston, and then switch back to the Northern line to continue to Moorgate. this would score ZERO bonus points, You would only score SIX points for the stations you've visited.

--Example 2: Travelling from Camden Town to TCR on the Northern Line (this time via Mornington Crescent) You change at Euston, Northern (Bank Branch) to KXSP, then on to the Victoria Line to Warren Street and then back onto the Northern Line to TCR. This combo of stations and changes would score you SIX bonus points and SEVEN stations visited = 13 points.

Hope all is clear. So who is taking part? Please do not turn up unannounced on this one as this could cause problems at the pub. Thanks.

Looks like you might need to book table(s) to be sure of getting into the quiz...

Already been arranged- hence why I asked for expressions of interest to know how many challengers I am expecting.

I have booked one table for six, thus that is the maximum number I can accommodate on this event.

Ian and I started our route at Gloucester Road, our initial route was soon thrown out of the window though as when we went to change to the Victoria Line at Victoria we found a huge scrum at the top of the escalator and decided to head back to the sub-surface. We adapted our route, and got mostly good changes apart from a 6 minute change onto the Northern Line and a couple of 4 minutes ones onto the Bakerloo and the Victoria lines. Our clock expired as we were in the tunnels having just left Euston, and we finished the tube leg on 38 points.

Off to the quiz, where we were joined by Zuzanna who helped us gain a couple of extra valuable points, and by the end we weren't a million miles off winning the quiz in the pub, we got 37 points here and I think the winning team scored 42.

It was a fun event, the hour on the tube is really intense and you have to be focussed on door positions, which side the doors open, and flexible enough to vary your route, I think the issue at Victoria probably cost us a few points, if you had the luck running for you with slick changes throughout I would think that scoring 50 points would be possible.
