We are back for the new 2022/23 season.

If you are new to all this:
Welcome to the 2022/23 Random 15 Championship. I am your host (commonly known to regulars as the BERC when I am hosting Random 15 challenges). The Random 15 challenge is just that, visit 15 randomly selected stations that feature on the Tube Map (usually within zones 1-2 and using the Underground network only). There will be certain rounds within the championship that are a variation of this such as adding an extra zone or network e.g. DLR onto the challenge. So are you ready to take on the Random 15 championship?

The rules and scoring are unchanged from previous seasons but if anyone is not familiar with them, or needs a refresh, you can view them here:http://www.explorerticket.co.uk/tubecha ... 5rules.htm

We start the new season with the Champion's Twist.

When: Saturday 17th September 12:30 UK local time
Variant: 15 LU stations in zones 1-3, however the start/meet up isn't one of the 15 stations... as we will be starting from the summit of Primrose Hill!
Time limit: As zone 3 is involved, 6 hours.

We are also trying out a new venue for the after challenge social which will be The Sheaf located underneath the Hop Exchange on Southwark Street, just a short walk from London Bridge Station.

Closures affecting the challenge (correct at time of posting):
--Jubilee: No service Stanmore - West Hampstead.
--Metropolitan: No service Harrow-on-the-Hill - Aldgate.

Other closures to be aware of:
--DLR: No service Poplar - Beckton.
--Overground (North London line): No service Gospel Oak - Richmond/Shepherd's Bush.
--Thameslink: No service Luton - West Hampstead

Therefore Kilburn, Willesden Green, Dollis Hill and Neasden will be excluded from the draw.

As it is a new season, the leaderboard is wiped clean and everyone starts on zero.

Who am I expecting?

Looking at the map is Chalk Farm the best station and is it easy to find top of Primrose Hill?
Just what us parkrunners need this twist

Yes, it's a little unclear whether the "summit" is up at the top of the map at Elsworthy Avenue, or whether it's the viewpoint in the middle of the park.
Tangy, Andrew - can one of you clarify?

Just had a thought - As there is no starting station, it could be a very long time before anyone visits even one station in this challenge.

ASLEF members will be out on the 15th too, depending on how talks on the 7th go. Should be the usual chaos that weekend ...

More of a problem being that it might effect whether people can get there in time, or get home afterwards. Although Thameslink / Great Northern have managed to run a bit of a service on previous strike days they have always finished for the day very early. Might be touch and go whether I can come depending on what timetable they put in place.

Yes, I'm now very unsure as to whether or not I can come, although I'd still very much like to and have already booked tickets from Birmingham.

Assuming enough of the tube is running to make the challenge even possible I've thought about it a bit more and should be able to drive down. So long as I can find a parkrun with free parking for the whole day near a working tube station that is...

Gladstone looking like the contender at this point.
