The second event for Tube Olympics of 2016 is the Bottle Challenge.
The challenge will commence at
19:00 hours on Friday 8th July 2016 at Leicester Square. You can start your stopwatch when the doors are firmly locked closed ready for departure on the first train in your chosen direction AFTER 19:00:00. You only have one attempt.
Usual Bottle rules will in be force- see
http://www.explorerticket.co.uk/tubecha ... erules.htm for details.
Don't forget that despite being shown outside the Circle Line on the current version of the Tube Map, the stations of Marylebone and Edgware Road (Bakerloo) are included in this challenge. Also please consider the current temporary closure of the Bakerloo platforms at Paddington (Praed Street), you can therefore only visit this station on the Circle/District line platforms.
Thanks

Good luck all. Unfortunately Surrey vs Somerset at the Oval proved to be more enticing.

Well, that didn't go quite as well as planned.
First off, I think I took Tangy's instructions to "catch the first train in the chosen direction and start the watch as the doors close" a little too literally, by jumping on a train which was already in the platform at Leicester Square and getting stuck in the doors! Oops! (As it turned out, I think I would probably have got a better time had I waited for the next one!).
Anyhow, up the Picc to KX, over to Euston and back down the Northern to Charing X ( 20 mins gone), then up the Bakerloo to Edgware Road. Found my way to the other station correctly this time (no mystery tour via Marble Arch!) but things fell apart a little here. I was hoping for a Wimbledon or Circle via Victoria to knock off Praed Street but with the only train in the station being a Hammersmith and no indication of how long to the next one, I took that, did the usual run through the main line station and waited for a while at Praed Street. Back to Edgware Road and another lengthy wait for an eastbound train. Even then it wasn't the Circle I had hoped for but a H&CL. Checked the board at Liverpool Street and the next train was an Aldgate so rather than wait for a Circle, I took the Central to Queensway and across to Bayswater, hoping for an anticlockwise Circle but no, it was a Wimbleware again! Toyed with the idea of going via Earl's Court but the board at HSK said the next Circle would be in 4 minutes which I figured might work out quicker. Round to Sloane Square, double back to South Ken (with hindsight, perhaps I should have done this from the other side!), then up to Green Park and down to Victoria. For once the correct (Circle) line train arrived taking me round to Aldgate for a time of 2:24:08 but had the trains arrived in the right sequence I reckon I could well have been 15-20 minutes quicker.

6th in 2:28:12, first hour went great was flying along, Central Line wasn't great and a few changes with at least 3-4 mins wait then 8 mins wait on H & C killed me off....
