Just got into this tube challenge lark after seeing 'The Tube' with Geoffs 3rd go at it and followed up by downloading Metroland.

Have spoken to a few mates and showed them Metroland and they are right up for a crack at it.

Went to London for a recce last week. Checked out a few changes. Had a terrible head and dry throat after just 6 hours on the tube!

Presume this happens to everyone!

Seem to remember Peter Duncan doing this on Blue Peter in the mid 80s - anyone remember.

I have a route that could beat Geoff and Neil by a couple of minutes if everything went perfect but I think my changes are too tight. Just want to do it in a day to start with

Doing it in a day is a good start. Hell, I haven't even managed that yet. But I will.

I've always maintained our record is beatable. I've got a route which I think can go 30 minutes faster.

But, as the saying goes, it's all down to luck on the day, and praying that the signalling on the District Line branches doesn't sit down and sulk because of a bit of rain

You could probably do exactly the same route on x different occasions and come out with a different time each time.

If you've got a route that's around world record time before you've tried it a couple of times, you're doing far better than me!

Do you know the stations/connections well? it's easy to make dumb mistakes with the best route in the world if you've never been there before.

I think I have a route that's 30 mins faster also, on a good day....
whatever that means in LUL language. Although there have been really few delays when I've been on recently. Are they getting better, or am I just picking good days?

Yesterday was particularly bad in the evening. At one point, there were delays on the Circle, District, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Piccadilly and Victoria Lines.

Mind you, with any luck the Gunnersbury blockade at the start of April should help improve signalling reliability on the Richmond branch.

Yes, yesterday I managed to get caught in north AND southbound delays on the Northern and the slight backlash of no Piccadilly between Acton Town and Uxbridge.
