Using National Rail
I know that "doing stations" using National Rail is permitted if the trains use the same tracks as LU trains, but is this still applicable if they use different platforms? I ask, as it is known that you can use the Silverlink down to Richmond, but the Silverlink uses different platforms at Richmond, and therefore, if you are being extremely picky, uses different rails at that point., would this technically invalidate any record attempt?

Just to expand on the Richmond thing, Silverlink use platforms 4 and 5 whereas District trains use platforms 5 to 7.
But as the trains run over the same rails from just north of Gunnersbury all the way to the junction outside Richmond Station, I don't think Guinness are going to be too picky.
Obviously, getting a train into platforms 1 or 2 on the SWT mainline is not going to count as "visiting" Richmond unless you arrive or depart by tube/Silverlink.

you could do it if you came in from gunnersbury having run from chiswick park, and left getting an SWT train to somewhere, or vice versa

Well, interesting. I guess you must have made the Willesden Junction connection then. (Vauxhall/Waterloo seem to take too long to make it worthwhile). And I haven't found any other remotely attractvie options (but maybe I should keep looking...).
Also I guess you made the Turnham Green Pic-Dis thing too...
Anyway, most interesting info!

richmond to vauxhall takes about 15 minutes if youre lucky, and there's also the feltham - heathrow connection (which is only practical from richmond).
and obviously if you start at heathrow, as geoff & neil did a few times, you probably would stop at turnham green on a picc line train

I never started at Heathrow - that was pre-Neil.
What I meant by the Richmond thing was we arrived at Gunnersbury from Chiswick Park, caught the Silverlink to Richmond and then left Richmond by alternative means ...
We didn't use a D-Stock train at all on the Richmond branch.
