Hi Guys, just a quick one before I head off home, Our time was so bad because we jumping out at each station for a picture with red noses on as well as genrally just walking around, we are going to try harder tomorrow though.

The reason we are doing TCR is because it is right next to where I work and it's different!

We are going to be on the radio (BBC London 94.9) at 08:10 whilst recieving a massage from another set of fundraisers at St. Pancras! Ahhh!

Ric has the record, yes, it's about 2.45 or so. Bastard beat previous (mine!) record just 3 weeks after it being set!

That's correct. We are JUST the reigning champions...

However, I believe we could also be the only ones that has completed every attempt we've made and always managed a time under 3 hours!

We're looking forward to some new, sensible but challenging, set of rules.

How about these:

* Gather at OC at noon(eg) - again. Draw a finishing(!) station from a hat (again - Jack?).

* Make your way to the start point of choice.

* Clock starts at 1pm(eg) for everyone. Catch any train leaving (closing its doors) after that exact time.

And we'll SEE WHO WINS!

Drawing a finishing station out of a hat really is the ultimate way to find out who the winner is.

The stopwatch could be situated at the ticket gates of the finishing station, giving an instant view as to who the winner is!

No suspense for the pub later though...

I think the stopwatch should stop as each contender-populated train stops at the final station - making all teams arriving at the same train equal. After all - we don't want a sprinting contest inside a station - do we?

Actually - by definition - only the winners will see the winners win as the others have not yet arrived. Well, well...

Actually departing on the first train that OPENS its door after 1 pm makes more sense, since you don't risk getting caught in the doors then...

So you're saying that if Team A arrives before Team B, then Team A have been quicker and would win? Not so.

Let's assume Team A leave their starting station at 13.00 exactly. They finish first at, say, 16.00. That's 3 hours exactly.

Team B leave their first station at 13.05. They arrive at the finish ON THE NEXT TRAIN AFTER Team A, 3 minutes later at 16.03. But because they started 5 minutes later than Team A, their time is 2 hours 58 minutes and they would win.

So simply being first at the finishing station does not imply winning as start times will be all over the place due to waiting for the first train after 1pm.

So you would still need to compare the times when EVERYONE has finished. You can't ensure everyone starts at the same time if there are different starting stations.

Do you follow?

Actually one of the MAIN POINTS in my suggestion was that time starts at 1pm (eg) for EVERYONE, regardless of actual departure. After all, luck will always be a factor. This also opens up for interesting strategy choices:

Should you take the train departing at 13.01 or wait 2 more minutes to start off in your desired direction?

I see your point, that we wouldn't really measure the actual time it took to visit all stations, but I'd say that the point of a competition is not to set a record anyway!
