Rare Entries Quiz III
Posted: 13 Mar 2011, 17:23
OK people, here comes quiz number three. As the last quiz was set on a Sunday and this one also happens to be starting on a Sunday, it seems a good idea to start them on Sundays.
I thought it might be an idea if I chose a subject for each quiz, so this one is based on world geography.
Some of these questions are going to involve you doing some research, but don't get too worried - it's all on Wikipedia. I suspect these questions may throw up some pedantic issues regarding what people consider a state or a country, but hey - you may learn something along the way!
1. Name a US state which starts with the letter M.
2. Name one of the states which comprise Australia.
3. Name a country which falls inside the timezone that is four hours ahead of UTC (UTC+04:00).
4. Name one of the sovereign states within the continent of Africa which does not have any of the colour green on their national flag.
5. Name the capital city of one of the countries which officially make up Central America.
6. Name a country which currently maintains an official claim on one of the eight territories of Antarctica.
7. Name a country which, between 2006 and present, has made a territorial claim in the Arctic.
8. Name a river in the world whose length exceeds 3000 miles.
9. Name an English county whose population exceeded 1,000,000 (1 million) according to the mid-year estimates for 2008 from the Office for National Statistics.
10. Name an OECD member country which joined the organisation after 1995.
Remember to PM me your answers - I'll close this one at 17.30 on Sunday the 20th of March 2011.
