This is in no way shape or form an attempt.

Agreed. An attempt needs to at least start.
If you tested your route - tell us about it. Did it work? Did it fail??

Agree that it doesn't really count as an attempt, but can say that the test went very well indeed and the new starting strategy worked a treat.

Are you able to divulge if you are still starting at Amersham/Chesham?

It wouldn't be a new secret starting strategy if we told you all what it was would it?

Just out of interest, is the secret starting strategy the one I know about but that you've threatened to shoot me if I tell?

I technically would class it as an attempt as it wasnt our fault That ken o was closed and we did actually visit it.Surfice to say our route worked really well on a test day!and yet again we did it the HARD WAY no buses caught.

Test Day? You weren't out the whole day unless you're testing pubs...

OK. Put it a different way: did you A
1: Have a independent stopwatch opperator come and see you off at Amersham / Chesham?
2: Were you collecting photos, times, witness statements on your way round?
My point being, if Kensington Olympia has suddently reopened when you were there, would you have been able to go on and lodge an attempt within the rules.
Your comments here:
...Fact of the advance knowledge of the Kensington Olympia problem we turned this into a test route....
suggests that you did something different that you wouldnt have done on a valid attempt.

Nice attempt at trying to get us to confirm/deny whether or not our new starting strategy begins at Amersham/Chesham moley, but we're not going to say where we started - we'll call our starting point Station X.
We did have an independent stopwatch operator see us off from Station X, solely because he had already booked a day off for what should have been the record attempt, he then stayed with us for our experimentation and came to the pub with us after we reached our successful conclusion. As such, we were collecting times so that we could reach a conclusion and make a judgement on how well the new strategy actually works. We didn't collect witness statements, and Andi has an unhealthy obsession with taking photos on the way around anyway.
Regarding the something different that we wouldn't have done on a valid attempt - yes, we stopped going around the network whilst still on our planned schedule so that we could go to the pub!
