Hi James, do you have the answers for this yet? There are just a couple I'm not sure of.

Just looking at this now, what ones couldn't you get SD and I will see if I have any of those?

Everyone who entered got 19 out of 20.

1. The outside of a tree is not outside. Barkingside - Bark, inside.
2. The madness of five from Rome? King George V - Madness of King George; the Roman numeral for five is V.
3. An ecologically friendly river crossing. Greenford - Fairly obvious.
4. If Ken can't do it, who can? Barbican - Ditto.
5. You'll need your passport to get here. Pimlico - Passport to Pimlico was a 1950s Ealing Comedy.
6. To greet a fence opening. Highgate. Hi, gate.
7. The aftermath of a tree-mendous fire. Burnt Oak.
8. An open space for a chess piece. Queen's Park.
9. One hundred building blocks. Brixton.
10. The ideal conurbation for Daily Mail readers. White City. I wasn't sure how well this would go down, given the borderline racism of the clue.
11. Captures the stream. Snaresbrook.
12. Enquiring after your shares. Stockwell.
13. Beeping at Rebecca. Tooting Bec.
14. Mad at a dog! Barking. Barking mad.
15. A palace? Only in one direction! South Kensington
16. Fuming, but at least my head's covered. Hatton Cross. Hat on Cross
17. A stately home, but filled with baseball players in red socks. Boston Manor. Boston's baseball team are the Red Sox.
18. As a German would say, in an eastern direction. Osterley. The German for East is Ost.
19. Where leg joints would hide in Bermondsey. Neasden. Leg joints are knees (neas) and Millwall's home ground is the New Den, sited in Bermondsey.
20. One hundred Simpsons men! Homerton.

Excellent quiz, I was stumped on a lot of these and had West Kensington not South but I guess this counts just as well.....

Good stuff! I forgot to PM you in the end, but I got all but 2, 4, 5 and 11. Barbican was very good.

I thought that'd be the one that tripped people up, had guesses of Cyprus and East India for it.

I make it that I only got 18 correct....

The ones I got wrong were...

10. I went with Earls Court, reading the clue as the Ideal reference being the Ideal Home Show. Which is sponsored by the daily mail.
15. I went with Westminster, because it is the palace of Westminster and it's name only contains one direction.

19. I got the right answer with Neasden but could not work out the Bermondsey connection!

All in all a good quiz overall. More of the same please :-)

I got 19 as well.

I too put Westminster for 15. Not sure why South Kensington, given presumably it could have been West Kensington?

Overall, a good quiz though.

Because I forgot about West Kensington  and thanks, took me about half an hour to pick random stations and make up some clues. I might do another one soon.

For me it just shows how hard these things are in a foreign tounge. I feel reasonably comfortable with the English language and I'm certainly quite familiar with most LU stations, but alas... In Swedish I'm pretty good with cross words and other (including non-mathematic) puzzles, but I didn't stand a chance here. (I did manage a few, though)

However, I really enjoyed trying and I'm looking forward to more of the same!

Ok, well, if I get bored this weekend going to or from Stoke I'll try and think up some more for you all.

Once you saw the answers, was it easy to see why they were the answers? That's often the first step in understanding and solving cryptic puzzles.

I think that a lot more people will enter now, now that they've seen the way I think.
