As I'd set myself a target of 22 minutes this year I will now have to set a new goal, this will be Ric's time of 21:07, I'm not sure if it's realistic but I'll give it a go.

Re: Tube Challenge parkrun league...
I was in two minds whether to do a Parkrun this morning due to an upset stomach and a very bad night's sleep. However, I'd already agreed with a friend that we would go and run at Hove, he usually runs at Bognor Regis so I thought that Hove would be a nice course for him. When we arrived at the park I decided to at least have a warm up, it was around -1C and it seemed a real effort to run 1.5 laps of the course. I decided to give it a go even though I wasn't feeling great. Fairly early on I noticed a runner who was holding a banner 22 minute pace, as I was keeping up with him fairly easily I decided to push on past him and try and stay ahead. I felt pretty good through the first couple of km, splits from memory 4:22 and 8:38, by 4km I was struggling but the split was 17:13 so I just needed to dig deep. I was amazed with the final time, 21:25 and age graded of 69.42%.
As I'd set myself a target of 22 minutes this year I will now have to set a new goal, this will be Ric's time of 21:07, I'm not sure if it's realistic but I'll give it a go.

Ended up running with my girls at Penrose in a time of about 45-46 mins on the alternative course which is nice but measures 5.5k.

Same here. I did set off, but hadn't got far when I had to turn around and run home quite quickly!Soup Dragon wrote:I was in two minds whether to do a Parkrun this morning due to an upset stomach

Ta.
Here it is then - the latest table. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing
Not much activity this week, but Soup Dragon found some speed from somewhere and moves ahead of Tube_b in the time-ordered table, and powers up to second place in the age-grading. Not bad for an old man.
Making his debut is Das, who I assume is OK with being in the table. Let me know if you'd rather be removed. As it's his first time he gets the privilege of a PB, and the special colours that go with it. I'm back on it this coming weekend, so Soup Dragon had better watch out ...

I guess you're right though, I like to give you youngsters a run for your money.
Good luck this coming weekend, I will be watching for a new PB!

Echo what Sam said SD, that is impressive and it's not an easy course that is a very nasty climb.....

Returned at Black Park today and was a struggle after 2 weeks out with illness but at least it's the first green shoots of recovery under way..... a very modest 35:48...

OK, we have an update: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing
Andi can't count - you've done 11 unique venues according to the stats. Anyway, not many people out this week, but Das gets the only improvement, taking over six minutes off his best time. Watch out Andi.
Tractakid and I both ran the same time, but the differing natures of the courses makes it hard to see who actually "won". I reckon I did, because there are two steep hills at Plymvalley at the moment.
I'll be at my first inaugural run next weekend, with the opening of Mount Edgcumbe. Funnily enough, the course itself is just east of my house, even though it's in Cornwall which is mostly west of me. One of those things.
