"Thank you for your email.

I've checked whether there'll be special arrangements for District line trains to service Kensington Olympia during the Beer Festival on 13 - 17 August. A decision has yet to be made, but we will know for sure nearer the time.

Please check with us a week before the event when we'll be able to say for sure. You can do so by calling our Helpdesk on our local rate number 0343 222 1234 (7 days 08.00 - 20.00).

For your information, you can get to Kensington Olympia by using the Southern Railway or London Overground service from West Brompton.

Thank you for writing in. I'm sorry I'm not able to provide you with a definitive response at present."

I've set myself a reminder to check in w/c 5 August - so it looks like that there may still be a possibility that the Tube Race won't be feasible on 13 August.
I e-mailed TfL again yesterday morning, reminding them that they had asked me previously to check a week before about Olympia services during the Beer Festival. Twenty fours hours later, I've still not received a reply. I'm not impressed.

Very impressive - let's hope you can turn theory into reality.

I've now worked through the second of my major routing ideas, which turns out to be better than my first. Although, in theory it could produce a fast time, I'm not totally happy with it, as there are a number of risky connections, which if they don't work may leave me struggling even for a completion. I've still got two more ideas, for which I would like to do some detailed calculations if I have time. I've never been this close to an attempt and still not decided the basic principles of my route for the day.

Thanks Nigel, we still need a lot of luck and it is a long shot but at least it's nice to have a theoretical time inside GWR for the 1st time since the current record was set

Just phoned TFL. Took a while, but despite nothing appearing in their system they told me that the regular half hourly service will be running. I will get a call tomorrow to confirm this, with precise timings.

The time period was quoted as being from 0950 til 2300

I've finally decided on a route strategy for Tuesday's attempt. It involves a couple of changes that I've never done before, so if I have time I will to try to reccy these on Monday.

Surprisingly, I won't be starting on the same train as anyone who has so far publicly declared their starting point on this forum. However, I'm happy to tell anyone else who is doing the race my starting train, if they want to get in touch.

Right, got a route of 16h 29m. So yeah, exactly the same time as the current record. Here's to breaking the record by a few seconds.

Note: I edited the two posts that refer to a well-known broadcaster for two reasons:

1 - I don't want the forum appearing to endorse a certain broadcasters over any others
2 - HT's obsession Sky (despite not having access to it) is amusing.

Just wanted to wish good luck to everyone taking part.

I hope the weather is kind so that your Fantastic August Race around the Tube doesn't become a Stupidly Hot August Race around the Tube.
