No PBs this week, and having only gone onto the list of Parkruns done by one person last week Barking comes straight back off again, as Geoff was there.

From this week I have added a "volunteering" tab, so we can see who's been doing what when volunteering. Runners are ranked in order of how many volunteer credits they have officially received according to Parkrun. So if you happen to do the new runner's brief AND are then the tail runner, you'd get two credits (one for each) instead of just one for the event. Scrxisi's "comms" credits come from his administration of Southwark Parkrun's Twitter account (so tractakid tells me, anyway).

And in case anyone cares (or notices), I have counted "Finish tokens" and "Finish Token Support" as "Finish Tokens", in order to keep the columns to a minimum. I'm sure someone will find something wrong with the table ...

Here is a link to a real time video of Penrose Parkrun I would rate the course a 5+ with 388ft elevation gain starting at 15 ft above sea level rising to a peak of 230ft above sea level.

The main hill starts at 9:30 and finishes at 14:27 in the video.

A beautiful course. I think the video makes it look flatter than it actually is, though it's easy to judge the elevation change relative to the sea.

That's definitely on my to-do list, being not too far away. Which bits are the nasty uphill bits, Nozza? I assume running towards the sea is down-ish, and away from the sea is up-ish?

The first 400m are up hill then it undulates but gradually climbs around onto the coast path then from just after half way you start the climb with the worst of the climb just after you turn off the coast path. You climb from 75ft to 215 ft in half a mile with the steepest grade at 15%. Once you reach the highest point it undulates down to the finish with the finish line 200ft above sea level.

It looks a nice course. That girl with the dog in the video is fast!

I found these two videos of Plymalley, for those who have never seen anything of it before.

The video doesn't show the big hill, but it does show the start/finish area and the run out from the start that you do in the first couple of minutes. From 02:25 you'll see runners on the other side of the meadow to the camera, running left to right. Those people are in front of our cameraman, and by some margin too. This lot aren't exactly pushing it.

In the same shot you might also like to note the flags on the other side of the road. Have I mentioned the headwind?

Tring vs. Penrose, I found Tring tougher it's a truly awful start but Penrose is also a beast and both have large sections where personally I simply find it impossible to do anything other than power walk....
