She's got a long way to go compared to the scores at the place I got the idea from. They've been playing the game since 1995 on there, and the leader there has hundreds of thousands of points!

As you have clarified, words after a claim do not make it a spoiler unless they include the word "spoiler".

Do you see what I'm getting at here? You just made a claim. An invalid claim, to be precise, and a bloody huge one at that!

I had no intention of making a claim - I was answering mullardo's question. You can moan all you like, but I'm not subtracting 100,000 points from my score!

I won't moan if you give us consistent rules - you are now saying that the intent of a post determines whether it should be treated as a claim or not?

I think it's obvious that I wasn't making a claim there. The wording of my answer to mullardo's question just happened to accidentally be in the same form as a claim.

If I am supposed to work out Edgemaster's intentions when claiming 90 weed on the 19th (see scores thread), then I have to judge whether or not I was making a claim. I judge that I wasn't (because er, I wasn't). Ta da, job done.

What if I had quoted mullardo's post when answering? Would you still say that I was making a claim?

I don't know, that's open to interpretation. I would say yes, but I'd probably just wait and see what you did at the end of the week. Although if that were the case, mullardo should also be subtracted 100,000 points.

I judge that mullardo wasn't claiming that number of points either, as his use of "100,000" points was clearly indicated in the sentence, just as my use of the same phrase in this sentence.

Just kidding. I think the Edgemaster comparison is pretty irrelevant, as you didn't have to judge whether he was intending to make a claim. It was clear that he was trying to make a claim, regardless of the game situation, regardless of whether it was valid or invalid etc.

But hey, you're the boss, I accept your decision.
