Agree with this entirely. No shade on Southsea seafront. So hot.

Loads at Plymvalley, but only in the middle. The start and finish are open to the sun.

Another update done.

I could only manage 24:10 this week. I can't quite get below 24 minutes on a regular basis at Plymvalley, although to be fair it has been raining all week, and the course is a mudbath again.

An observation about running:

British heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson had three foul jumps in the long jump discipline, ending her chances of a medal. She had to complete the remaining two heptathlon events to ensure she was still eligible to compete in the long jump event later in the week.

She chose to run the final event, the 800 metres, really slowly. You can watch her lope around here, starting at about 1:44:50.

Her finishing time was 2:50.73.

This is still faster than I can run 800 metres!

My fastest timed 800m is 3:52, but that was done back in November, around an industrial estate with a huge hill in it. I should try to work it out from a Parkrun time.

According to the Riegel formula, based on your parkrun PB, you should be able to run 3:17 for 800m

I noticed this on the Countdown forums... probably the best parkrun-related joke I've seen.
1 FNC Completion (PB: 17:18:18 with G Bryant, A Chilcraft, I MacNaughton)
4 Zone Ones (PB: 03:00:35 with G Bryant)
15 R15s (PB: 01:55:48 with T Cooling and R Jackson)
11 All Lines (PB: 00:44:03)
Winner of the 2014 Formula 1 Side Competition

Well seven runners this week, but a couple of PBs to report. First of all, Geoff finally gets an overall PB for the first time in literally years, by taking two seconds off his best at a new run for the forum (Hackney Marshes). The other one was my third visit to Exeter Riverside where I took 15 seconds off my best, so I'm now down to 22:40. I made the start with three minutes to spare as well. And I'm almost halfway to the 50 T-shirt. Dudey will earn his 50 if he runs next week.

Tractakid is now on his own with the most unique venues, as GU was playing at home today. No idea where Penrhyn is - probably in Wales or somewhere. Also, scrxisi reports that he stopped for a loo break midway through his run at Skipton today, due to feeling unwell. He made it to the end though.

I wonder if anyone else on the forum is tempted to take up running 5K, to see how they measure up. GuyBarry, maybe? :)

Isn't Penrhyn down in your neck of the woods, on the Falmouth line?
