No.
The difference is the number of steps you have to go UP compared to DOWN.

I understand perfectly now. Thanks. It's really obvious when you think about these things, isn't it?

Can I just point out that last year, I used a circular route.
Enough said.

Was the circular route to your edification and delight?

We got the worst Zone 1 time on record. Ever.
Which, granted, I was pleased with. But not for the right reasons, really..

Here's a question, aimed at people with a bit of a clue, like Neil. Through Chris Presswell can answer this if he wants
Is taking a bus from Victoria to Hyde Park Corner a good idea? I'm thinking (lol - I just mistyped that as "I'm thinning", which I can assure you is not happening, neither in hair or in physique) in terms of having to come up from underground, leg it over to the bus station, etc etc.
Or is there a stop nearby Victoria station where one can hop on a bus, or is it easier at the bus station?
So? Good idea? Bad idea?

Well there are many bus routes from Victoria to Hyde Prak Corner, but in order to maximise your chances of getting virtaully the first bus that comes you have to go to the Grosvenor Gardens stop.
Out of bus station entrance (onto Buckingham Palace Road), turn right, at next traffic lights, turn left, bus stop Q. Don't get on a bus from the bus station as that only limits you to only the 38, 52 or 73!
At that bus stop Q you will be able to catch a 2, 8, 16, 36, 38, 52, 73, 436 get on any of these routes and alight before the junction itself (2 stops from the stop you board at Victoria IIRC), as the next stops after the roundabout are quite a way up Piccadilly or Park Lane!
However try and get a 52 if possible as this at Hyde Park Corner turns left onto the A4 towards Knightsbridge, hence stops nearest to the Tube entrance subway.
Journey time would be no more than 10 minutes.

Well, the route that I was working out required things to happen the other way, but that could work - how quick are the buses there, in reality? Is there a stop just North of Sloane Square itself that picks up (I'm thinking this might be quicker than the bus going round the square if it gets held up by traffic) ??

I've tried that one -- it's faster to walk.
