We may not have a 16hr 44mins but we're not far off!

We were discussing that at the time i wonder if i filmed it.?jamesthegill wrote:I wonder if my Archway DLR wormhole would shave some time off the record...
Especially as it's mid-line. Odd, yet obviously effective. Still, wasn't it the great Bob Robinson who started at Temple, another "odd" place to kick off, that got him the then record?Sam wrote:Too late... i've been told... Maida Vale! Wow, not something I would have done personally
How much money extra have u been promised if u do.?RichieG wrote:I say this not for myself, but for the charity I will be raising for in February...
STOP BEATING THE RECORD AS IT MEANS I WON'T RAISE AS MUCH MONEY!!!
Just looking at Pauls signature giving this was his 1st attempt and me and white stig ran this route and were 40 minutes up until we got delays out of no where.Just proves that u have the ability to improve and now u know to run out of High Barnet instead of waiting for the busWanstead wrote:Especially as it's mid-line. There are no sacred cows as far as start/finish stations go.
I have some devious routes for that run and I can just see myself trying them out next time I find myself in London. I don't think there's any real substitute for putting in some physical training, though: when the record is as tight as it is you can't afford to miss trains because you ran out of breath on a run. Bizarrely this is my motivation for getting fit next year.palkanetoijala31 wrote:Just looking at Pauls signature giving this was his 1st attempt and me and white stig ran this route and were 40 minutes up until we got delays out of no where.Just proves that u have the ability to improve and now u know to run out of High Barnet instead of waiting for the bus
i think we proved it was certainly doable though. does taking the bus one stop really count as not running the whole thing? is there really much point just running regardless of buses when the best route is along the main road with several buses going where you want? obviously it's worth doing when the roads are gridlocked like on our attempt though. was it 6 buses we overtook?!palkanetoijala31 wrote:Just thinking about i have actually never ran all the way Canons park to Edgware even dudey attempt we at least took bus for a bit of it.as anyone actually ever done it or thought about it!
At least 6 buses i think the fact that 3 go along that route kind of negates having to run it all most of the time anyway.dudey wrote:i think we proved it was certainly doable though. does taking the bus one stop really count as not running the whole thing? is there really much point just running regardless of buses when the best route is along the main road with several buses going where you want? obviously it's worth doing when the roads are gridlocked like on our attempt though. was it 6 buses we overtook?!palkanetoijala31 wrote:Just thinking about i have actually never ran all the way Canons park to Edgware even dudey attempt we at least took bus for a bit of it.as anyone actually ever done it or thought about it!
It seems obvious to me that unless your bus is within sight as you get to the stop outside a given station, you should start running. If the bus you wanted catches you up, so be it. However if it never arrives in the time taken to run to the next station then you're ahead, if exhausted. Then again, depending on the routes of various bus services and the route you're running, you may increase or decrease your chances of getting an alternative bus if you press on. It can be complicated but there are numerous scenarios you can map out, picking the best one on the hoof.palkanetoijala31 wrote:At least 6 buses i think the fact that 3 go along that route kind of negates having to run it all most of the time anyway.
