Made a very last minute decision to go to one. Ran 8k beforehand and timed it to arrive at the start at 8:55. The start line was spaced out but I still wore a mask, after well over a year of running alone I wasn't comfortable being around so many people.
I decided to stick with it until at least the first turn (0.66km in), and if my anxiety got too much I'd just keep running straight along the prom when everyone else turned back on themselves. Thankfully the groupings of people thinned out and I was comfortable enough to take my mask off about about a mile.
Finished just under 28 minutes, three minutes off my pb time but pretty good for my first parkrun after a long warm-up run beforehand! Looking forward to two week's time when Lancing reopens.
Also, some bloke called Rob Lomas keeps giving me kudos on Strava, which one of you is he?

I finally got the monkey off my back and managed my first rostrum finish as Squerryes Winery. 3rd place in 21:12.
Not the easiest of courses, but definitely one to do in the summer, I could imagine it being really muddy in the winter. It's also very narrow for overtaking on the final leg. I did lead for well over half the run, but was never going to hold on. Really enjoyed the setting at this one, we played some card games with a few other runners afterwards, over coffee and breakfast.
In other news.... a few of you also went and did parkrun this week, and here are the highly anticipated results:

and the spoons is just up the road with good parking.

Some of us went for a run in a park and we all did good things.
Some medals changed hands and some didn't

p.s. I was back to bridesmaid status at Lullingstone, but to be honest I didn't want to push too hard as I had a 32km run to do this morning

One bonus of having a new job is being of every Saturday. I may not be very fast, but hopefully I'll be consistent!

This week I've treated myself to a pair of Nike Zoom Fly 3 which have the carbon plate. I've been struggling to get close to sub 20 for 5km since lockdown started last March. I don't know if it's physchological but the new shoes did the trick. I took a massive chunk of 1m1s off my course best for Preston Park, setting a new benchmark of 19m44s. Happy with that as those of you that have run Preston Park will know it isn't easy, with three hairpin bends and three times up the "Travelator" as I like to call it!
For the stats geeks I have run 5 times at Preston Park, and it must be my go to course for Stop Watch Bingo, as on every trip I've filled my Bingo Card!
(12, 28, 43, 44 & 45 are the lucky numbers if anyone thinks there might by a lucky omen here!)
Only seven runners this week, not many of us have been out since parkrun returned.... What's keeping people away, I'd be interested to hear if people have fallen out of love with parkrun
Anyhow.... here are this weeks stats for those of you who like that sort of thing
