This is copied from the Parkrun website
All parkrun events use age grading to allow athletes to compare results.
Age grading takes your time and uses the world record time for your sex and age to produce a score (a percentage). This score allows you to compare your personal performance against other people's performances even though they might be a different age and a different sex to you - the higher the score the better the performance.
The scores can also be compared across different race distances - to allow you to, for example, compare a 5km time against a marathon.
Age Grades are calculated to allow rough comparisons between all our runners, and should not be taken too seriously. For example, age grading makes no allowance for different weather conditions or the varying terrains of our courses.
We do not share the actual table used to perform the calculations but it is loosely based on the tables produced by WMA, previously known as WAVA.
For more information, please see Running For Fitness.

Add another 10% to my grade as I am carrying some timber and riddled with sporting injuries

So, today was my first Parkrun since July 2013. I haven't done any running since September 2013.
Finished in 41.31. Not amazing, but at least it's a start!

Out of interest, in the last month I have started going to CrossFit, and we do quite a bit of running as part of the work-outs. We did 1k the other day, and I did it in six minutes. I was wondering what time I could expect to get over 5k, especially as I wouldn't be going at that speed for the whole thing!

Looks like mine and Andrew's time from Burgess last week has been lost in the ether as there is no sign of the results on the website. Good job neither of us got a PB!

Well, the results have now been posted. Almost everyone is down as 59:59, which is what times default to in the case of a timer failure. Peter, if you email in with your (estimated) time, they will get approximate results out soon
