What me.... get a date wrong.... I still say that I picked the right day for the DLR challenge. It's the idiots on the TFL site that got it wrong.

Well as long as there is no strike action I can confirm that this challenge is planned for 19th September. And yes I'm sure that is the correct day for "Talk Like a Pirate". It will also be the day that Arsenal play Sevilla in the Champions League, so I might wear my Arsenal shirt instead of a pirate costume.
One day I shall return!

i was going to mention that perhaps this evening challenge could be affected by the current early closures on the victoria line. but now you mention that game soupie, i seem to remember them saying that they would cancel the closure on nights when spurs or the gunners were at home?

That is correct, also I believe the last trains are around 10pm anyway and with this particular starting station a Vauxhall finish isn't really on so the Vicky line shouldn't cause us any problems......hopefully..... :)

OK so the 19th September it is then, unless there are further strikes.
Don't forget that there will be free ale on offer for the person deemed to be the best dressed pirate! If we can get through the evening without someone being arrested before we get to the Captain Kidd then this will be a huge bonus :)
I would expect we will meet around 1900, but I will confirm the exact meeting spot and time shortly.
One day I shall return!

Having travelled all the central parts of Piccadilly Line (part of it with Tubeguru) after the Arsenal vs FC Porto game last year during our record run, I can state that from Cockfosters to Earl's Court the fotball fans cost around 2 minutes only... However, the havoc earlier in the day on the Heathrow branch cost us around 11 minutes at the departure from Oakwood/Cockfosters...

Bottom line, don't worry about the football game!

I would, on the other hand, state that my route planning says that any good Z1 route from Cannon Street would probably end at Vauxhall... My bet is that the winner of the Cannon Street Run II, will indeed finish at Vauxhall!

Out of interest, if you were trying to come up with the fastest possible Z1 route, and it had to end at Vauxhall, where would you start? Or is that highly classified information?
