I have wondered about this. The problem with waiting until they've all been drawn is that you'd end up with only a few stations to choose from, meaning that it would be feasible to plan detailed routes from all possible start stations in advance. In fact, there would end up being only 1 station left, so the start station would be known 12 months in advance, not 45 minutes.
I would suggest the rather extremist idea of simply leaving the challenge at that, once all start stations are used up, there will be no more rounds, until tfl builds a new Z1 station. Any solutions would simply spoil the point of the challenge - being to make up your own route on the fly.
I can if I want to, but I need to count very carefully my allowance. I have already taken a long holiday off in the beginning of the year after 3 years not being able to travel to China, and need a few more days in July to attend the World Orienteering Championship which is probably a once-in-a-lifetime experience in the UK.Lunaticonthegrass wrote: ↑02 May 2024, 09:33 Can you not get time off work? I'm taking a day of annual to come, and I'm sure I won't be the only one.
OK, that's a very good reason not to come this year. We'll be doing another Zone One Championship in 2025.miklcct wrote: ↑20 May 2024, 13:35I can if I want to, but I need to count very carefully my allowance. And of course there is also an evening Zone 1 round in Tube Olympics (though that might clash with WOC).Lunaticonthegrass wrote: ↑21 May 2024, 08:04OK, that's a very good reason not to come this year. The co winner was 47 last year with dodgy knees and hadnt done a tube challenge in a few years so that is not an excuse!RobbieM wrote: ↑27 May 2024, 20:52 I’m meeting a friend on Friday, and have just suggested how we might spend the afternoon…
…he seems to be up for experiencing a Zone 1 challenge, so hopefully we’ll be able to join y’all!
We won’t win, as there’ll be ‘ageing men’s issues’ to slow us down. (Well me, anyway…)
