Well if that's the aim, then I don't think there should be a formal deadline at all. Simply declare the quiz open and close it when you have "x" entries (where "x" is some pre-determined number). I'm not entirely happy with the idea that the quizmaster should determine who takes part.

Anyway, I've re-scored quiz VII (Cricket) in accordance with my alternative scoring system. It actually makes more difference than I thought. "WR" represents a wrong answer, "x1" represents a unique answer, "x2" represents an answer given by one other player and so on.

Yes - I don't want to see the quizzes becoming rapid affairs as a rule, or no one will enter.

Yeah - I just made them deliberately easy questions on that one so that people could get their answers in quickly. I wouldn't recommend it for questions on more obscure subjects.

There doesn't have to be a predetermined number either. Common sense is all that is required. The quizmaster isn't deciding who enters. They just decide when to close the quiz and makes sure everyone has fair notice.
