You do have the choice of other modes, the Oxford Tube bus springs to mind. Only takes just over and an hour and a half and drops you more convienently in the centre of each city than the railway does!

I once went to Oxford on FGW. Well you almost have to. It was a fast (i.e. Slough-Reading-Oxford) but was some random tinpot train and not a big one. Is that normal?

Not all Oxford services are HSTs.

Hehe well I dont catch the train much, but I can only think of one incident ages ago where the service was poor. But most of the time, the staff and service is great

One thing I will say, and I know this can apply to more than one TOC but your prices are stupidly high :/

Book early. I've found some great FGW fares if you don't mind restricted travelling times

I meant for food and drinks...and sometimes the ticket prices but mostly the food lol. I mean like...£3.75 for a bacon baguette? :/

It's surprisingly easy to fare evade on FGW...

(I will say that I've never done it for fear of the time I try being the time I'm proved wrong!)
