Except the last station you visit (i.e. the one you finish at) - I think the Guinness rules say that the clock stops when you set foot on the platform at the last station.

If you think about it, that foot-on-the-platform rule is horribly inconsistent with everything else.

A reason that there's no need to put a foot on the platform of every intermediate station is perhaps that it would be impossible to disprove!

That's a valid point John and I have never really understood the finishing rule of foot on the platform as your "arrival" at every other station is when thd doors open...

Just look at the sheer distances you have to cover in the NW corner...

However, High Barnet to Cockfosters (or reverse) is quite a long run (if a bus isn't available), so I was wondering whether there might be a trade-off between avoiding that and instead doing an out-and-back to Amersham / Chesham at a time of day when services are more frequent and Chiltern diesels are available.

My thoughts as well Roger, the average time I allow is around 25 mins, of course some of the more "athletic" challengers can do this is around 15 mins... It might be worth consideration....

I've looked at incorporating Chesham/Amersham during the day and I just cannot make it work at all!! I've done loads of route planning

The fastest time that i know of for this connection is 15m 43s can anybody beat that

The other interesting aspect with this is that if you start at High barnet you can virtually guarantee a decent M.H.E.

Also for the logistics side of starting and finishing you can easily get between the 2 stations by bus or even leave your car parked in New Barnet half way between the two. A lot easier than finishing at T5 and then driving up to the NW corner to collect the vehicle you left there at the start of the day
