Re: Random 15 Championship (POLL) - Round 5 - April 2010
Don't worry Kevin, the 3rd of April is the only date I can make!
After recent altercations it's also pretty weird that Soupy's managed to pick the only other day in the year when I'm guaranteed to be in Worthing! For this reason, and this alone, the 17th of April had better not be selected!

Worthing will be empty that day as hoards of Worthing fans head to London to watch Met Police vs Worthing.Mitchell&BrownLook wrote:Don't worry Kevin, the 3rd of April is the only date I can make!

Re: Random 15 Championship (POLL) - Round 5 - April 2010
Are there any objections if I close this poll one week early????
This still gives you three days to vote or re-cast your votes.
The reason being so that we can set the date for the R15, and then allow Andi time to set a date for the TCDL roadshow in Bournemouth. I guess the earlier Andi sets his date the better so we can try and get some advance tickets and save some money!
Any SERIOUS objections please let me know

The way it's going at the moment, it appears as if the only darts event I'll be at this year will be the one that's not actually following a tube event...
I'm beginning to dislike my fornightly timetable at work!!!

Re: Random 15 Championship (POLL) - Round 5 - April 2010
Okay, now that the date has been revealed as 24th April I can confirm that there is a 95% chance that I won't be attending this round. Worthing are at home to Fleet Town which is possibly our last match of the season and it looks like it could be a very crucial game (see: Ryman One South Table)
I will aim to get up to London for the darts in the evening. This leaves a void for the event organiser so I will be running "BERC Idol" to find someone to take this very important roll. Could all applicants wanting to be BERC for a day please send their applications to me by PM
* All applications for BERC Idol to be sent by PM by 23:59 on 19th March 2010

Re: Random 15 Championship - Round 5 - 24 April 2010
Just to point out that I've already bought advance tickets for this (they didn't have them last time I came because of engineering works; this time there don't seem to be any engineering works). Wrexham and Shropshire (who I'm travelling with) warn that the times may change (I think it is just to cover themselves though; I looked on the Chiltern Railways website and actually saw a timetable for that day and it includes the Wrexham and Shropshire trains which seem to tally with the timetable given by Wrexham and Shropshire). And my arrival at Marylebone is scheduled for 11.15 (depending on engineering works on the tube, I think with a 12.30 or later start, I'd be able to get to just about any zone 1 or 2 station. 12.00 may be OK for me if the starting station is relatively central, but it might be tight getting to, say, Clapham Common for 12.00. We can decide the time after knowing the starting station though).

Yeah, that's looking flaming close at the top. And the bottom of the table is looking uncharacteristically tight, too!Soup Dragon wrote:Worthing are at home to Fleet Town which is possibly our last match of the season and it looks like it could be a very crucial game (see: Ryman One South Table)

Re: Random 15 Championship - Round 5 - 24 April 2010
I was just looking at the tfl website and it gives details of closures on this day.
Closed stations:
Willesden Green
Kilburn
West Hampstead
Swiss Cottage
St John's Wood
Oval
Clapham North
Clapham Common
Clapham South
Stations closed but can be passed through:
Warren Street
Cannon Street
Blackfriars
Also, the tfl website says the following about Holloway Road:
"On Saturday 24 April, HOLLOWAY ROAD STATION is exit only from approximately 1330. All WESTBOUND trains (towards Central London) will stop and customers will be able to exit the station unless overcrowding occurs. From approximately 1330, no EASTBOUND trains (from Central London) will stop at the station. At around 1500 the station will fully reopen for entry and exit. From 1630 until crowds have sufficiently dispersed, the station will be exit only, but all westbound and eastbound trains will stop."
This is because there is an Arsenal match on that day (Holloway Road isn't able to cope with matchday crowds), but I looked and found the match kicks off at 17:30. This information looks like it is based on a traditional 15:00 kick-off time. I'm not sure what to do about this: should a non-stop pass-through be allowed here if Holloway Road comes out of the hat? And I'm beginning to think it might be best to exclude Holloway Road from being picked as a starting station.
I don't know if they will add any more closures later, but I thought I'd mention these ones while I saw them. (As an aside, has it ever happened that a completely closed station has come out of the hat, particularly if a closure has been confirmed after the envelopes were prepared?)
Soup Dragon was talking about BERC Idol to find a substitute BERC because he may not be attending; has one been decided on yet?

I would say after Worthing's last 2 results the BERC's chance of missing are nearer 80% now...
