I wasn't accusing anyone of doing it specifically, but it has now been mentioned a few times that the photo was found by some people on the internet ...

Nobody mentioned specifically in the answers that they found the original photo - I just wanted to credit the original photographer, rather than imply (intentionally or otherwise) it was my picture originally.

OK, so I imagined it all.

I didn't find the original photo in this instance (though I have done on some occasions). In fact, the station name being almost legible in the roundel on the far platform and apparently two words of almost equal length was one clue. The reasonably distinctive metal railings were another. To me, it initially looked like Boston Manor; unfortunately, some features, especially the shape of the lamp-posts, did not match. This quiz was then hard, because all one knew is that there are (probably) just two platforms, probably on a straight section, and above ground either side of a double track 3rd+4th rail electrified line, probably with a two word name and definitely with metal railings.

Numerous stations were eliminated before I found, with some difficulty (but actually in a reasonably obvious place and suitably tagged), an image of Ruislip Manor from a similar angle and could match virtually every detail. This was probably the hardest for me since Manor House, or perhaps Holborn (which I didn't get, despite passing through the station during that week).

The easiest recently, by the way, was the quiz towards the end of round 2 where the name was visible on the bus stop outside the station.

That's excellent work Jbom. Surely that deserves a Bonus Point.

Thanks, but I think that's fairly typical of how most of those taking it seriously are going about solving them - a combination of a little tube knowledge, some logic, and finding relevant pictures of stations on the internet.

That was how I've been solving them all along anyway.
