Well, the same saddos are standing on the end of Didcot Parkway platform every day, taking the numbers of HSTs they've seen a million times before. So taking pictures of the same roundels is hardly surprising behaviour.

So let me just clear one thing up. Its probably been mentioned here before but did Marc get witness statements or just used the video clips of the train/station/paper all day?

Right: Here is what I posted on
http://www.tubeforum.co.uk/forum/index. ... pic#p45101
I've become aware that someone (not necessarily a member of the forum) had read the topics and the concerns over the unusual methods adopted during Marc Gawley's attempt. This individual had nothing to gain or lose with regard to the decision and therefore raised a number of concerns with Guinness in an independent manner.
Whilst Guinness are not prepared to answer specific questions about Marc Gawley's route, they have confirmed that they have reviewed the concerns raised and are satisfied that they record rightly stands. In particular, they have confirmed that he did not catch a train from Latimer Road and that the example page on his website was not what he submitted to them.
Please let this be the end of it.
Firstly, no it wasn't me and next I have no intention of entering into discussions regarding who it was.
Secondly, I've seen the correspondence relating to the above, and am happy that Guinness are satisfied dispite various peoples concerns. If anyone has any issues relating to the above - please contact me via private message (I'll even go and clear out some space now!).
Thirdly, we have to believe that the chapps at Guinness check their facts otherwise there is no point doing the Challenge in the first place. I know how much you guys and gals on here hate not knowing the details of Marc's record but the fact that Guinness are happy means that any of you are welcome to make an attempt in exactly the same way.
What I would love to see is that everyone now focuses their efforts on beating Marc on the network. There are afterall only 77 tube challenging days left until the Olympia timetable change.

Good work Moley (and the anonymous correspondent), I hope that's the end of it.

I agree with Nick, er Chris.
From what has come to light recently, it appears that MG has sold us a dummy. I don't blame him. Posting decoy pictures and information (if that is indeed what he has done) has certainly got everyone's knickers in a twist, and hopefully you will all now stop being so downright nosey.

And i think you'll find that's the whole point. he KNEW it would get everyone worked up ... an unknown, an outsider, suddenly coming in and getting an amazing time, etc.. and then refusing to get/drawn sucked into the forum to talk about it.
Do you seriously think that his intended audience for his website consists of members of this forum? I very much doubt it.

Not exclusively, but he no doubt knows/knew we existed and had the member of this forum in mind when he decided how much to give away in his write-up.

All this fuss and to think, Marc's record only stood for 37 days!

I Borrowed this quote from Sam regarding Marc Gawley
This is the main part regarding start/finish places...
"On your specific question...I was asked to keep the route a secret until
this Olympia timetable change thing happens (I guess not to spoil the
enjoyment for people figuring out their own route) but I promise to reveal
the start/end then - let's just say that you will laugh at me when you hear
the story "
Now the timetable has changed will we ever hear the route or proposed start and finish places his last line suggests something funny perhaps?

This was bad publishing. My understanding is that Marc even had his photo taken with a ticket but the newspaper insisted on a photo with an Oystercard.

Must be bad publishing. Thinking about it, when Neil and Geoff broke the record, did more than one publication get their names mixed up?
