Having said what I did last night, it turns out that I CANNOT be here for Children in Need after all.
I am on a week long training course from the 16-20th November which sadly means I will have to miss this. Work does come before play I'm afraid (though would much rather run round the Tube all day long)!
I can however be available in a support role from around 1500 onwards if requested.

In the true spirit of Children in Need support will be glady appreciated by all teams, but in order to keep a level playing field in this event, support should be restricted to food drops, stopwatch operation etc... and not anything else that would be deemed as unfair advantage to any one team.

Do you know if you have any press interest/coverage lined up for the day? Be good to see your valiant efforts on the telly...

Yes I think that would be perfectly okay, but it's not down to me to make the rules.

But you're the BERC! Or is it the TOSA? And the full network on the Olympics comes within that remit.

Guys,
I'm conscious of the fact that this CiN event is now happening in less than 2 weeks time, and yet there appears to have been minimal activity on the organisational front. I think that someone who has some idea of what is happening really needs to take a grip of the event and say this is what is going to happen etc.
So far as I am aware, the only plans made have been:
- Running as individual teams (although it appears some teams are closed shop and other teams are open for other people to join - could we have a list of who will accept other and who won't?)
- Amersham start - T5 finish
- Meet at Amersham at 5ish
There appears to have been no mention whatsoever of the main idea of this event - fundraising for Children in Need. How are we organising the fundraising for this? Are individual teams setting out with the aim of obtaining a GWR at the end of it (including obtaining of all evidence)? What happens at the finish - are the first finishers going to wait at T5 for the others? Will there be some after event meet?
These are just some of the many questions that remain unanswered, and with less than 2 weeks to go to the event, I really do think someone needs to just set stall and state this is what will happen, unless there is large disagreement. I'm going to be largely away between now and the 20th and will only be able to get on the forum sporadically in that time, so it would be nice to have something sorted sooner rather than later
Rant of sorts over!

I can only speak on behalf of Team Sam and Matt or Team Matt and Sam lol... but we intend to go out on our own with our route intending to aim for the GWR which I assume most teams will want to aim for. Many people have now completed it and the aim of fundraising for a GWR attempt has much more appeal than a completion.
I doubt I will be able to achieve much fundraising so intend to just donate some cash to somebody who is fundraising. There is only so many times you can ask the same people for cash for the same event!!

OFFICIAL CHILDREN IN NEED PLAN
Right in order to answer some of steevooo questions
1. Fundraising should be done seperately i have allready raised quite a bit at work myself or u can set up a justgiving page and collect ur own money to give to the charity.
2. Individual teams as far as im aware Team matt and Sam and team brown are closed to new members but Team Nozza and team Andi are more than happy to accept this can even be done on the day or by pm to Nozza or Myself if u wish to join either.
3. Amersham start at 05.05am this gives 20 mins for photo opputunities 4 teams individually and 1 big group photo and time to buy tickets etc.
4. Pre event booze up as per previously mentioned this will be held at Boot and Slipper pub High Amersham at 19.30pm the thursday night 19th beforehand just turn up.
5. after event not 1 planned as of yet.
6. GWR if teams wish to go for Gwr then by all means go for it they have to collect evidence needed themselves register with guinness date at the start another team will witness for each other.
7.Accommodation u have to sort our urselves.

I have never known so many commuters show an interest and ask so many questions as Friday 13th between 1700 and 2300hrs when we we alternated between supporting Andi and doing research for CiN day.......... More happened in one evening than on most full networks and we even collected £5.00 courtesy of Amir
We met Amir on a Stanmore terminating Jubilee train as we were approaching Finchley Road. His destination was Stanmore but he was trying to get to Wembley Road station as he had heard you could change again there and get to Stanmore faster. We established that he meant Finchley Road and then back on at Wembley Park which was exactly what we were doing anyway. We took him over to the Met line for a 1 minute wait for a Watford train and when we got off at Wembley Park I noticed he was going to stay on the Met train. I just got him off in time and he kindly donated £5.00 to the cause
Apart from the vast interest at various places we also had a wait of almost 30 mins at Rayners Lane for a Picc train when we were trying to get back down to Acton Town to meet Andi again.
A quite bizarre thing happened here and hopefully Soup Dragon can post a link of the phone video he took

That's quite an unwieldy team name - ten syllables - but I think you should stick with it.
