Re: Which song?
Could this band be described as "New Romantic"?

Does the name of your band have more than one word?

Re: Which song?
You know looking at the clues it doesn't discount the fact this could be an all girl band....
So is your song by Bananarama?

Not only is it No (18/20)...
But Bananarama have never had a UK number one!

A little nudge in the right direction; Blondie were/are American.
So... One question/guess left. Here's a summary
UK Number 1 Single
Between 1980 & 1984
By a female/mixed sex group
Not an American group
Not a charity single
The name of the band is one word - not ABBA
Not new-romantic
I'm sure there's now only one possibility... one band with one number one single!

Re: Which song?
I'm confused now I've looked through every number one from 1980-1984 and all of them seem to fail on one of the clues.

Ok... one final clue I'll give you; it's a band that's probably believed by most people to be a solo artist!greatkingrat wrote:I'm confused now I've looked through every number one from 1980-1984 and all of them seem to fail on one of the clues.

Nena - 99 Luftballons (or as it was released over here, 99 Red Balloons)?

Quite rightly, the correct answer is: 99 Red Balloons, by Nena
