Challenge on 8th March anyone?
I'm going to be in London over the weekend of the 7th of March, and noticing that the engineering works on the Saturday aren't too prohibitive (Camden Town - Golders Green, West Kensington - Richmond/Acton Town and North Greenwich - Stratford) I was wondering if anyone would be up for a challenge at all?
Not sure what yet - I'm open to suggestions!

Are all the stations open in Z1 or within the "Bottle" ? There are 2 x possible challenges that could be done......
South of the Thames would be out with North Greenwich being closed.......

Yeah - all Z1 and bottle stations are open; which is a rare occurrance in itself; or is there anything slightly more out of the ordinary we can try?

I was thinking of perhaps testing the water for a 2/3 hour runaround challenge; like the one I discussed in the Challenge Attempts forum - visit as many stations as possible within the time limit. Thoughts?

This challenge has possibilities, I would guess that 3 hours is a good timespan?uefacup81 wrote:I was thinking of perhaps testing the water for a 2/3 hour runaround challenge; like the one I discussed in the Challenge Attempts forum - visit as many stations as possible within the time limit. As per the other discsussions on this I guess the tricky thing is going to be setting out the rules on bonuses, such as number of interchanges, zones to be visited, etc......

Re: Challenge on 7th March anyone?
What say you, GU? I was thinking 3 hours would be pretty good as it eliminates the possibility of just spending all your time on one line. As well as that, if you do happen to go (for example) Euston to Morden on the Northern, it leaves you at an extremity with the problem of getting "profitable" as soon as possible - time equals stations in this challenge! So I'd expect to see a fair bit of Z1-3 action on this one.Going Underground wrote:This challenge has possibilities, I would guess that 3 hours is a good timespan?uefacup81 wrote:I was thinking of perhaps testing the water for a 2/3 hour runaround challenge; like the one I discussed in the Challenge Attempts forum - visit as many stations as possible within the time limit. Re: Challenge on 8th March anyone?
Just to clarify, I made a mistake - I'm planning on trying to sort something out on the 8th of March - not the 7th as previously advertised... so that'll be a week on Satruday.
Cheers

I think that my strategy (depending on the exact scoring system) would be to look for long stretches of line ending in easy connections to another line. Taking the example of starting at Euston, something like
Euston - Stockwell - FInsbury Park - South Kensington - Mile End - (Central line to) Ealing Broadway - Earl's Court - HSK - Baker Street etc.
In the original 10-hour charity challenge, there was the additional constraint of finishing at the starting station.

Well, it seems that some of you are interested - so perhaps it would be handy just for you to make a mention if you're interested in principle, then those of us who are can hammer out some rules between us. Sound good?

Unfortunatley James I am not going to be able to make it into town on the 8th March, I have quite a bit going on and then we have Sport Relief the following Saturday 15th March....

Re: Challenge on 8th March anyone?
No problems guys - anyone up for anything at all?
If not, I'll probably give this "runaround" challenge a try - would anyone like to suggest some rules?
